Do you hear that undergirding song, that unpronounceable energy, and feel the phantom tendrils permeating through all things?

I knew it was not a recent book, but I sat agape listening to it when it got to that part.

If you signed an nda, hopefully it's for something good. As much as I know the stories we tell ourselves are just repeating memes, I still appreciate the manifestations they take through artists tiring pain and trauma into works art.

A tree in a forest with a temple in its roots, filled with tomes of the ancient sounds, that when communed with enlightens a person with the ability to see the tapestry of creation. But I wouldn't say that's expressly unique, just one of the plot lines I'm working on.

Third World War, the Bell Riots, massive civil unrest in 2024. Lots of acknowledgment of the pain and circumstances that lead to the post-capitalism, spacefaring society they depict. Even that has its end and struggles of you watch ST Discovery.

Solarpunk, Steampunk, and most other iterations of retrofuturism. I think the criticism is that they seem to ignore the reality of the hurdles that need to be overcome to achieve a hopeful future or rely on McGuffian tech to achieve it. That said, more hopeful sci-fi/fantasy story settings please!

This feels like the tipping point. Armies invade blue states, and the state governments or citizens react, leading to a situation similar to Euromidan or the Syrian Kurd soccer protests. These are very troubling times.

It's true that it's a Sisyphysician task to moderate, but that will always exist in a space for free thought. Embracing technical and democratic means for keeping the peace is a must. Community notes was a good thought without any real oversight, something @safety.bsky.app may be able to polish.

User moderation. Users who opt in to review reports and have 10 vote on the report. You get 6/10 to agree, the post gets removed. Have that removal appeal to the dev team.

I think it may partly be due to being able to report disinformation and a growing culture of accountability. Watching to see how it evolves and reflects the implicit bias of the users and developers.
