(3/4) Most likely, new telescopic observations will lead to re-assignment to Level 0. Attention by public and by public officials is merited if the encounter is less than a decade away."

(2/4) "A close encounter, meriting attention by astronomers. Current calculations give a 1% or greater chance of collision capable of localized destruction.

While the magnetic field is currently on the weaker side, a minor geomagnetic storm (Kp=5) is possible throughout the next day or two while wind speeds remain high. Folks at higher latitudes could get in on some enhanced auroral activity, perhaps.

Another CME occurring today could arrive the following day, Saturday. A minor geomagnetic storm is possible.

Despite all this, the CME itself associated with this eruption is not limited to just the filamentary material and is probably wide enough to impact Earth. We expect it to arrive sometime on Friday with our chips down for the first half of the UTC day.

--that's the filamentary material that could really pack a punch if we were to be impacted by it (but is likely to miss Earth).

We'll have more updates for you as we have them. We may see a CME arrive at Earth sometime on Sunday the 12th. Pray that the Sun doesn't unleash its fury while our eyes are closed!

(2/3) More coming and yet to be analyzed. Many of these CMEs appear to be passing below Earth's orbit, but a few should be wide enough to knick Earth pretty good.
