The attacks on women and queer MPs on the left of #nzpol are a case in point. It can happen here. And unless the progressive, democratic left can take the levers of power far away from moneyed powerbrokers and their pet politicians, it *will* happen here.

So tell the Greens to do better, step their game up, stop making such basic mistakes. But for every breath spent on such admonition there should be a thousand eruptions of fire and venom at the failings of supposedly indifferent and neutral voices, even allies, who have failed the Greens first.

When the cost is eventually revealed they will take great pains to hide or disregard the contract break fee that we know is at least $300M, and possibly even more.
This has already been tried with someone in the coalition (can't recall who) trying to lay this cost at Labour's feet.

Trans visibility matters today, because an enormous amount of people are trying to erase us from the world. But it's our connection to others that we need to focus on. We are part of a community, not an outlier. We belong.
