Possibly Vincent Price's creepiest role, which is really saying something.

If the genre appeals to you, I'd say it's worth checking out, just be aware it's still early days. Even with all the problems, the gameplay loop was satisfying enough to suck me in for months. (All the cute love interests didn't hurt, either.)

A lot of stuff is time-gated, per in-game day which is like...an hour or so, I forget. You can only trigger the conversation option that advances friendship/romance once per villager per day, etc. So it can "oh, just one more day" you to death and before you know it, it's been seven hours.

It was absolutely unplayable when I tried it on my Switch Lite, dunno how much better it would've fared on a docked Switch proper, or now that it's also out on the Switch 2. I do know they just had a big update that introduced a third map, an area that's been talked about in-game forever.

back in when they were closer to proper release and see if it ran without making my pretty decent PC scream, but I haven't checked back yet. They're still a long way out from full release, though. Launched in late 2023, and as of the most recent update they're on version 0.192.

The house building and decorating system is pretty impressive. You have a crazy degree of control over where on your buildings you wanna add rooms, where on your lot you want the buildings to be, super precise placement of furniture and decorations, etc. I opted to peace out for a while and check

people to show off said cosmetics to, I guess. Or invite them over to your house to admire your decorating. There's not a whole hell of a lot in the world you can do together in terms of gameplay, other than spread out a bit to make hunting rare critters easier, or provide group fishing buffs, etc.

multiplayer feels almost tacked on. It's very vaguely an MMO. So much of the focus is on interacting with the NPCs and the goings-on of the village like your traditional farming/dating sim, there are just...also other players roaming around you can trade items and run around with. So you have

dipped, they still hadn't gotten around to adding a "remember me" checkbox to the login screen of the launcher, so you had to type your username and password every time. Basic shit. The world is very pretty and chill to explore, the NPCs are great and there's some cool worldbuilding, but the

Like, it was in REALLY rough shape when it launched, but with a well-stocked and fully functional cash shop, which also happens to be what most of the updates focus on. I think they need to keep selling those cosmetics steadily to fund its development. Like, I played for months and by the time I

It definitely has potential, but I don't know if it will get there in the end. I played the hell out of it for a short while, despite it being poorly optimized and my GPU making demonic noises when I ran it. I get the impression that while they called it a beta when they opened it up, it's alpha.

Probably not for a while, they don't tend to do console ports until they're completely done with post-release support for a game. Then they'll do a limited run physical copy when they put it out. So like a year or so, maybe.
