...to help them develop independently, as well as to balance the gaps if a family is away. Some combinations of singing voices work better than others. Some focus better when they're under the nose of the director. And there are always certain 'chatty' combinations to avoid. 3/5

This is more complicated than you'd think. Inexperienced probationers need to be placed next to senior choristers who will help and guide them. Experienced choristers need to go at the ends of the lines to lead in procession. Siblings normally go on opposite sides... 2/5
