If you’re attending the BPS 2025, don’t miss the poster of our ARISE fellow @osvalb.bsky.social He’s presenting eSPC, online data analysis platform on biophysics ! 🔎 Date : 18/02/25 Time : 13:45 Session: “Protein stability folding & chaperones” Poster : B38 @embl.org @cssbhamburg.bsky.social

Looking forward to making new connections at #BPS2025👨 Meet me at poster B38 on Tuesday 18 Feb 13:45. Session "protein stability folding and chaperones"

Today,on #InternationalDayOfWomenAndGirlsInScience, we celebrate the contributions of women in structural biology & biophysics! As an international team of women scientists 🇦🇷 🇷🇺 🇩🇪 🇻🇪 , we’re proud to push the boundaries of discovery 🧬🦠 #WomenInSTEM #ScienceForAll @embl.org @cssbhamburg.bsky.social

Scientists at University of Buenos Aires, EMBL Hamburg, and others mapped yerba mate’s genome, providing surprising facts about its biochemistry and evolution of caffeine biosynthesis. 🧉🧬🧪 Find out more: www.embl.org/news/science... @spcembl.bsky.social

Exciting work on the Yerba mate (Ilex paraguariensis) genome providing new insights into convergent evolution of caffeine biosynthesis 🧬🧉 Amazing work from our postdoc Federico Vignale and our STO @lucasdefelipe.bsky.social @embl.org @cssbhamburg.bsky.social 🔗 elifesciences.org/articles/104759

After many months of gathering user feedback and improving our software, we think it's time to share it with the community. Enjoy our latest tool 🥳 , and stay tuned for the next one 😉

🔊 Our latest biophysical tool for circular dichroism analysis, ChiraKit, is out 🔍 To read more about it, visit www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1... ChiraKit can be accessed at spc.embl-hamburg.de @osvalb.bsky.social @lucasdefelipe.bsky.social @embl.org @cssbhamburg.bsky.social @mosbri.bsky.social

Yerba mate makes the third-most popular caffeinated drink in the world, but it’s unrelated to tea and coffee. The first reconstruction of its genome is helping us understand how multiple species have evolved to synthesise caffeine. https://buff.ly/4jnWk82

Congratulations to the Sondermann Group and our core facility user, Sophia Mortensen, and collaborators. Amazing work on the discovery and characterization of this new family of bacterial enzymes named as diDNases. @embl.org @cssbhamburg.bsky.social 🦠🧬

📣We are looking for an enthusiastic postdoctoral candidate to work on an interdisciplinary project on biophysics of extremophiles! 🤝A collaboration with Donato Giovannelli @donatogiovannelli.bsky.social and Vikas Trivedi @viktri08.bsky.social 📩Contact: [email protected]

Don’t forget to register for the new @embl.org /@EMBO symposium on Mechanisms of drug resistance and tolerance in bacteria, fungi, and cancer! Abstract submission: 12 Jan 2025 Registration (On-site): 4 Feb 2025 Date: 18 - 21 Mar 2025 Location: EMBL Heidelberg www.embl.org/about/info/c...

Happy holidays! Best wishes from the SPC Facility & EMBL HH @embl.org @cssbhamburg.bsky.social

What about joining us for an interdisciplinary postdoc between Hamburg,Naples&Barcelona working on the biochemistry and biophysics of extremophiles?!

Our SPC core facility at EMBL Hamburg has been awarded the Bronze level on sustainability and efficiency as part of the LEAF programme 🏆 ! We’re committed to engage in our lab work while reducing waste, recycling ♻️ , saving energy 🔌 and help our planet 🌏 ! @embl.org @cssbhamburg.bsky.social

Congratulations to our SPC facility user, Karthi Dhamotharan and the Schlundt Lab, for such an achievement on SARS-CoV-2 nucleocapsid protein and RNA binding 🦠🧬 Well done ! 👍 @embl.org @cssbhamburg.bsky.social

📣We are looking for an enthusiastic postdoctoral candidate to work on an interdisciplinary project combining Biochemistry of extremophiles and Structural Biology! 🤝The position will be held in collaboration with Donato Giovannelli and Vikas Trivedi ! 📩Contact: [email protected]

New preprint alert 🔔 ! New insights into the clathrin-mediated endocytosis machinery! Sla2 emerges as a central hub interacting with Clathrin Light Chains and the Pan1/End3/Sla1 complex. Read the full study: doi.org/10.1101/2024... #embl @cssbhamburg.bsky.social @lucasdefelipe.bsky.social
