5/5 + Repeal of the Paid Family Medical Leave program So, we have a sense of what they wanted to happen with the state budget. I’m glad these amendments were rejected. We passed a reliable, responsible budget for Maine people.

Without this critical funding, property taxpayers would be forced to make up the difference, causing taxes to increase when many families are already struggling to pay their bills.

Maine communities will be able to prepare their budgets, because they know that state will maintain its commitments to revenue sharing and to funding 55% of K-12 education. And on July 1st, when the new fiscal year begins, state government will be open for business.

Maine people will be able to rely on the health care they need. The hospitals, nursing homes, pharmacies, and agencies that provide that care will be able to rely on getting paid for the services they provide. 🧵

These are unstable and uncertain times. But this bill provides some stability to our communities and to our constituents.

The future of our national economy is uncertain. The impact that things like tariffs will have on our state economy are uncertain. The impact of actions by the Executive Branch in D.C. or the United States Congress create uncertainty in programs like Medicaid. 🧵

...and that we pay our bills to hospitals, nursing homes, and agencies that help people with disabilities live in their communities. It tells all Maine people, and the businesses that operate here, that state government will be open for business when we begin a new fiscal year on July 1.

Mainers expect a responsive and responsible government. That’s what this budget is. Read about what the continuing services budget includes here: www.ryanfecteau.com/news/presidi...

This continuing services budget will ensure nursing homes, hospitals, and those who provide care for kids and adults with disabilities stay open. It will ensure our towns can plan their budgets to deliver essential services and educate our young people. 🧵

I hope our colleagues across the aisle will join us to ensure that the basic functions of state government - and the services so many Maine people depend on - are not placed in jeopardy. Read more: www.bangordailynews.com/2025/03/14/p...

Democrats are not willing to risk a government shutdown or neglect our state’s health and well-being. It’s time to move forward. 🧵

As a result, nursing homes, hospitals, and care for kids and adults with disabilities are being pushed to the brink. We must urgently address the supplemental budget in combination with the biennial budget, in order to put Maine people first and end the political posturing. 🧵

In contrast, our Republican Senate colleagues failed Maine people last night. Tomorrow they will have one more chance to vote on the bill, and I hope they will do the right thing.

I appreciated the conversation about the impact of potential US tariffs on Canadian products, as well as the chance to learn about the housing and childcare policies of our neighbors to the North. Merci de m'avoir rendu visite!

As the Legislative Code of Ethics states, ‘The Maine Legislator will be ever mindful of the ordinary citizen who might otherwise be unrepresented and will endeavor conscientiously to pursue the highest standards of legislative conduct inside – and outside – of the State House.’

There is a time and place for policy debates. That time and place will never be a social media post attacking a Maine student. Maine kids, and all Maine people, deserve better. 🧵

This supplemental budget will help to protect our forest products industry in Aroostook County and western Maine. We hope our colleagues across the aisle will join us.

But it was President Dwight D. Eisenhower who bestowed the first Gold Smokey Bear Awards in 1958. Now, we too have the chance to prevent forest fires here in Maine by passing the supplemental budget.🧵

While Republicans backed away from our bipartisan agreement, we intend to hold up our end of the deal. Maine people are counting on us.
