I was confused because over here Hush Puppies are a brand of shoe, so I thought this thread took a turn based on some kind of inside joke. But considering that it was you that mentioned them, I thought that maybe you're talking about food so a did some googling. And now I am smarter. #TIL

I watched that film a bit too young. Like Watership Down, it gave me nightmares. Have the opening theme on my phone.

Who knows? They may produce some good stuff. In any case, all the previous films are still there to enjoy.

Now, do that quest and trek to God's Window and throw it off the edge, lest Paul cracks it over Matt's head.

Oh. I have no idea what that movie is.

Nothing to worry about, Wayne. Kidneys grow back.
Or is it the spleen?

Honorable mention. If this book challenge was for 21 books this would have been on the list.

I started investigating who "Omi Man" was after I saw a few clips on Youtube. I have read the entire series three times now.

Very funny, scary at the same time. You get emotionally invested.

Overall the book is way better than the film but I thought what the film did at the end of the plot was a better than the book.

If Penn Jillette is a hero of mine and Randi is a hero of Penn Jillette then it goes without saying that I had to read this book. I was not disappointed.

This book made me less ragey about the world. Listen to @heyscoops.bsky.social Episode 1156 for an intro.

The Asterix books were the ones that got me into history. When I was a kid my jaw dropped when I discovered that Gaul, Caesar, Vercingetorix etc were real places and people!

Talking nothing away from LoTR or The Hobbit, I have read this book way more than any other fantasy book.

I still have fond memories when my teacher read this to us. Even though all knew what the "twist" would be we thought is was hilarious. Grover shouldn't be embarrassed.

"Plans within plans within plans". The Dune series is incredibly dialogue heavy. I think Lynch's, Villeneuve and Harrison's adaptions on the big and small screen are all worth watching.

I concur with @iwriteok.bsky.social. Vlad is my favourite fictional character. It's going to be sad when The Last Contract is published. Thank you @stevenbrust.bsky.social.

Hands down, this is my favourite Roald Dahl book that I've read. I hear the Netflix is doing a film adaption of it sometime this year. I hope they don't fuck it up.

Bill Bryson is one of my favourite authors. If you're into travel, hiking, history or nonfiction in general, read his books and you will be entertained.
Fun fact: Robert Redford played him in a movie.

Writing style of the first three reflect the societal norms of the 1940s (no female characters in the first book). The later books IMO are better (and tie in with the Robot series) but the original trilogy sets the bedrock.
Asimov will always be first among equals.
