A retired carrier pigeon, but not retiring. A member of the silent majority who ahouts at the cloud. If you are appalled by declining standards of governance and civic society then democracy and global peace are worth striving for🌍

You may not have a king or a royal family, but do you have a dynasty?

Wrong God. Man created you in his image, which is why different men have different gods.
Its time to dispense with dogma and doctrine, and just accept your divine creation as a fact of life, and get on with our free will.
In a world free from religious divisions we can be gentle, kind and happy.

You dont need to see them salute, to know there are nazi tendencies. What they say, and how they see the world is enough.

They said something similar about the kaisar and germany after WW1, with punitive reparations leading to Hitler and the Nazis, and WW2.
As for Hope, I'm hoping that Trumpism will end soon!
Hope is a 4 letter word we should all be using and Hate is a less desirable word.
Go well.

There is no hell other than the hell we create on earth. As for the war dead, all we know with certainty is that some were villains while others were victims.
You can live with hate, and that might be understandable under the circumstances, but far better to live with hope for humanity.

For you and #FrancisFukuyama, I have a novel suggestion in the new world order. Let the politicians settle their differences by Slap Fighting. Admittedly, there is a risk of brain trauma but for politicians it's a negligible risk.

Everyone who is united in wishing peace for russia and ukraine, should join in a silent vigil wherever you are, whatever you are doing.
Never forget the victims of this war.🇺🇦🇧🇬

So, now you've had a chance to reset, and adopt more polite language (polite = politics)
Do you still want to take part in War or Peace?

I cant foretell the future, that would be miraculous, but we can remember the past. Telyatnikov, Pravik, Kibenok, Legasov, Shcherbina, Antoshkin, and many other russian, ukrainian and belarusians. All were heroes, and thanks to them my family were born into a nuclear safe europe.
RIP those who died

Can I suggest the topic for your next scholarly work viz the role of prominent ukrainians in the Soviet Union. Khrushchev, Brezhnev, Shcherbytsky, Malinovsky, Grechko, Timoshenko, Moskalenko, Vatutin, Sudoplatov et al
Notables in the kremlin and in senior military command.
Should be fascinating

We know the history of Warsaw Pact and Nato, and of the USSR. We know that finland and sweden did join, in response to the war.
Interestingly, Yeltsin during his moments of sobriety was interested in joining but this was blocked by western leaders who wanted to expand east but exclude russia.

I'm not questioning the suspension of elections during wartime, nor am I defending an authoritarian tyrant's grip on power.
But therein lies an interesting dichotomy. Could it be that russians support putin because they feel encircled by NATO and are under constant threat?
I question that threat!

Perhaps democratic elections will result in a new presidential candidate. S/he might not be popular with some ukrainians, particularly if s/he aligns with regional neighbours rather than US/NATO.
That's democracy, the alternative is for civil breakdown and anarcho-disorder.

A lot to unpack, so start with future proofing. Who can foretell the future?
Peace gives those who are destined to die another chance at life, and the world will know how that peace was established, whether it was fair and just, or a frozen peace postponing war.
There must be mutual reciprocity

Much has been said about the cost, but in europe its become a sterile debate about 2.5% of GDP for defence costs, or nudged towards 5%. You and I know the true cost of war, its 100% for every casualty.
As for appeasement, not the same as peace movement.
Dont be enslaved by your politicians🇺🇦

'FILTH LIKE ME?'
Obviously, you're having a bad day so lets reset. 7M have left Ukraine, and an unknown number may not wish to return.
My question is relevant, is this war universally and unequivocally supported or is it the case that ordinary people/not filth* are appalled by the violence?

If peace isnt the route to our species' salvation, tell us why.
Seriously, kellogg and zelensky have gone dark why dont you illuminate our understanding?

The Maidan revolution in 2013/14 was a popular uprising against the ukrainian government of Viktor Yanukovych, and was aimed at reducing russian influence through EU membership. We can see how that struggle has played out, which is why arguably evolution not revolution is the art of sovereignty.

There is much chatter about ukrainian democracy, and unity in the face of this russian invasion.
Here is my question, the population of ukraine has fallen from the high point of 50M when it gained independence to current estimate of 37M. Many have left the country, rather than stay and fight. Why?

What the actual, #FionaBruce for tonights Question Time your 'expert panel' is front loaded with all the usual suspects. These war hawks belong in an episode of Antiques Roadshow.
WHY are peace activists never asked for their perspective???

Our PM correctly points out that Zelenskyy isnt able to claim a democratic mandate during wartime.
Similarly, winston churchill lost the general election in 1945.
The public were grateful for victory against nazism, but voted for health and welfare. I reckon the ukrainians want life without fear.

Sorry for your family's loss (truly). I cant begin to understand how that is for you and your kin.
My gran, again, worked in the armaments industry during WW2 and described the smell of the cordite.
We need to keep these fascists where they belong - the past.

Ok then, no prisoners. My granny was a wee battler too. But also a sainted lady. So long as there was a bob for the meter and milk and bread, all was well in her world.
Thanks gran, for raising me well.

There really is a chance that this will happen. But voting for an unrepresentative system only propagates our illusory democracy.
How about this, we the people deny them our mandate and force genuine democratic reform?
VOTE STRIKE.
