Happily retired. Life spent between Edinburgh, York and Cyprus. Detest all the hate speak and terrified of the rise of fascism. I have precious grandchildren and always conscious of the need to protect the world I'm leaving them.

Yep. Trump just exempted smartphones & computers from the tariffs, which (1) shows the absence of any real planning (2) is contrary to what he and his admin said is the point of these tariffs and (3) does not fix the numerous other problems. There are so many vital widgets US businesses get abroad.

It's almost enough to induce astronomic levels of second-hand-embarrassment. Almost.

3 days ago RFK Jr. told the CDC to stop recommending water fluoridation, claiming it was a neurotoxin (this is a lie). Turns out he also just eliminated the CDC’s entire Lead Program, and now lead poisoned children in Milwaukee are just on their own. Lead IS a neurotoxin and harms brain development

Listen up folks.

An innocent man, picked up by “mistake,” must not be allowed to rot in an El Salvadorian jail. Mr. President. Obey the courts. Obey our Constitution. Bring him home immediately.

"We can rely on [the EU]. We aren't going to be at the mercy of them changing their minds every few hours as Trump does." Our CEO @pimlicat.bsky.social at expertly sums up why we need to prioritise trade with the EU over the US on @lbc.co.uk with @mrjamesob.bsky.social. 👏

This carnival of bullshit must end. There's a change to reform the Lords immediately, through amendments at report stage. Peers should grasp it. Make these the last resignation peerages inews.co.uk/opinion/labo...

Deep alignment between the EU and U.K. could close this hole and deliver GDP growth for both sides. This is worth listening to. Tell him he was right then and to do the right thing now 🎧👇

Called my congressman who voted for the SAVE act. Me: What documents will I need to vote if this passes? Staffer: a DL and birth certificate. Me: The documents don’t match Staffer: Then a marriage certificate. Me: Will my husband need the marriage certificate too? Staffer: No Me: See the problem?

Dr Peter Marks, "Vaccines have been studied very extensively for being potentially associated with autism" "That theory has been debunked" "One study in Denmark, over 600,000 children. It shows that if anything, children had a lower rate of autism than unvaccinated children"

Keep talking about the Signal security lapse at the Pentagon. The media may have forgotten about it, but the voters have not.

‘Sir’ Robbie Gibb made no secret of it. Or his vote for Brexit. Still on the BBC board…

What a pile 💩!

I wondered for a while why Trump was so excited by Brexit, even to the point of getting Farage to fluff him. It was simple, really: proof that, with the support of enough bent media, bad people selling bigotry & lies really could persuade people to vote to punch themselves in the face forever.

Surely not... www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

New York Fucking City. A full mile of people filled to the brim. Fascism is going to lose.

Trump administration officials have fired workers for the main American aid agency who were sent to Myanmar to assess how the U.S. could help with earthquake relief efforts, people with knowledge of the actions said.

Trump is learning what Truss learned before him: that the market is the last bastion of commonly-accepted truth, which all sides accept as empirically real open.substack.com/pub/iandunt/...

This asshole raised prices and ruined your retirement savings, and now he's out golfing for the rest of the weekend.

Blimey. One of Nigel Farage's biggest donors, and the owner of 55 Tufton Street, is helping the Russian military effort www.nytimes.com/2025/03/28/w...

Now UK and EU need to follow Canada's example 💪. open.substack.com/pub/deanblun...

This will probably come as no surprise to anyone but..

One of the best photos I have seen in response to “why don’t you wear a suit”

Sir Bill Browder, "I don't think Putin will agree to a ceasefire" Cathy Newman, "Will we look back at this moment as the time we averted WWIII or sewed the seed for it" #C4News Sir Bill Browder, "Putin started the war, he has the ability to finish it at any moment by retreating"

His track record speaks for itself. While we continue to resist, we should take comfort in that he is deeply incompetent, not very bright & his policies are hurting even his most devoted supporters. Let's not get in the way of his inevitable self-destruction.

These were seen in London. London fucking ROCKS!💪

The richest man in the world took over $5K out of this guy's bank account, claiming he was dead. The richest man in the world said he was saving money. He was not dead.

This is hideous. And close to inexplicable unless Trump is doing what Putin tells him to.

What is wrong with giving a new leader a chance? A new approach, a fresh approach. Someone who has integrity, leadership skills, represents a key state, has guts and the confidence of the base. Time to put ego aside and screw seniority. This is my nominee.

Former Russian PM Mikhail Kasyanov, "Putin is not interested in ceasefire.. He wants talks with Trumps.. Trump's statements are in favour of Putin.. Putin wants to decide the fate of the world"

Right. I’m off to Waitrose. Anyone need anything?

Regressive National Insurance (NI). UK employees pay 8% NI on incomes between £12,570 & £50,270. 2% above that. Rich pay a lower proportion of income in NI. Govt can charge higher rates in incomes above £100k, £150k, etc. Collect £bns. No need for austerity. Tax the rich.

How feckin’ shitty is that? Your father/ husband/ brother/ son/ wife/ sister/ daughter killed in action and destroyed to the point where DNA is the only sure identification? We’re not going to bother identifying them

In which Elon Musk calls a US Senator and former Navy Captain a traitor, because he wants peace and opposes a Putin victory in Ukraine. This must mean Musk supports Putin ahead of democratically elected US officials, The US military, and NATO. You can draw no other logical conclusion.
