Let's walk through this: Alberta separates; Crown land title is extinguished; Indigenous land title remains; Non-indigenous Albertans don't own land or resources; The Alberta territory tries to raise an army and police force to take the the land, but has no money #LandBack

Transfer pricing: Put export tariffs on oil, gas, minerals and electricity Then sell tariff free quotas from each province Quota purchases are not tariffed; commodity prices will drop, dropping effective tariffs This is clearly beyond the competence of our politicians

We also have to remember that members of political parties on both left and right become less open to new ideas as they age #UBI #CitizenDividend from a 1% #LandTax was a great idea 140yrs ago from Henry George et al, studies prove it, yet both sides resist

I've had a very different experience becoming more open to new ideas as I age Openness, curiosity and intelligence are required to explore new ideas; these attributes usually diminish as we age

Seth, We work with numerous climate organizations and indigenous groups that are pushing for incremental progressive policies How can we submit policies to your Society to help move things forward (E.g. ConnectDER for homes; water rental fees shared with indigenous peoples; many more)

Everyone has a "money story" that informs how they deal with the most abstract story (currency) It's useful framing to think of money as a tool (Swiss army knive) that can do many things A #CitizenDividend funded through a 1% #LandTax would provide every child and adult with basic tools

Ira Wells of @thewalrus.ca is correct, we need more national institutions Army corps of engineers could build transmission interties, electrify remote communities (allowing for water treatment facilities) National wildfire service too, all included in our NATO spend

If the goal is to oppose Republicans on everything, we understand If the goal is to win mid-terms, then letting Republicans own 100% of failures over 2 years may be better

Trump could ask Japan to repatriate Sakhalin island (Karafuto) Watch Putin and Xi arrange for a cease fire immediately

. One letter from a small regional Ainu group can hardly be called representative of all Ainu people. There is no request for direct intervention or assistance in seceding from Japan, only a request for autonomy within Russia and bilateral environmental cooperation with Japan.

When I referred to the Russian "empire" I was referring not just to the current Putin regime, but to the existence of a single centralized state from Karjala to Karafuto that is ruled from Moscow.

If China were to get Haishenwai and Outer Manchuria back I'd want Japan to get Sakhalin and the Kurils (sorry, Karafuto and Chishima) so as to maintain the integrity of the "first island chain".

Think of a copper mine with a limited ore body with surplus refining capacity If the mine purchases copper ore from another mine, it can continue to refine copper, yet it has a trade deficit with the other mine Goods > money, this is the basis of all trade and all markets
