Hey Seattle- our days are getting longer in March. 100+ mins longer! 🌞 ⏰

Happy people enjoying the not-yet-open Alaska Way protected bike lane on a beautiful Saturday afternoon

Glorious Friday! 🌞 πŸš΄β€β™‚οΈ πŸ¦† πŸ›Ά

πŸ–ΌοΈ World class sculpture 🚲 Protected bike lane 🚦 No Turn on Red 3️⃣ Good things come in 3’s

🌞 Feels great riding the South Lake Union Streetcar on a beautiful sunny day πŸšƒ Heading to Rainier Beach, connecting to light rail at Westlake

I ran into the mighty SDOT Comms team at Charlotte- was so great to see everyone πŸ˜€

I’m excited about pedestrian safety improvements coming to the soon-to-open Judkins Park light rail station area πŸš† I’ve walked the location with community several times πŸšΆβ€β™€οΈ 🚢 Kudos to SDOT Chief Safety Officer Venu Nemani for designing near-term improvements www.seattle.gov/transportati...

Fun seeing folks bike and scoot up in to Capitol Hill at rush hour tonight along Pike St πŸš΄β€β™‚οΈ πŸ’š

πŸš΄β€β™‚οΈ β€”> ⛴️ 😎

Seattle is Beautiful πŸ–ΌοΈ 🚌

🌲 β€œSeattle is currently about 1/3 pavement…Despite a population of 800K people, Seattle has only 460K cars registered Seattle can park more than 1.6M vehicles…aided by its 500K on-street spaces. We have an overwhelming surplus of parking & pavement, so why not use some of that space to plant trees?”

Street reconfiguration proceeding nicely in front of Beacon Hill light rail station. I’m excited to see the southern portion of the Beacon Hill 15th Ave underway πŸš΄β€β™‚οΈ πŸ’š

Flava incoming in Ballard! Construction on the 15th Ave landscaped median and ped crossing expected to begin as soon as March! https://sdotblog.seattle.gov/2025/02/20/ballard-neighborhood-upgrades-15th-ave-nw/

That feeling when you cross a scramble crosswalk you helped install in Venice Beach πŸ„β€β™€οΈ 🌊 🌞 πŸšΆβ€β™€οΈ 🚦

Where am I?

Georgetown to Downtown bike lane progressing nicely 🚲 πŸ’š Installing improvements to utilities, sidewalks, and curb ramps on Airport Way S near the intersection of S Lucile St

Exciting to see Route 40 work beginning along Westlake Ave 🚌 πŸ’™

This morning I checked out SDOT’s pilot for smart commercial loading zones in SLU πŸ…ΏοΈ On Terry, the commercial loading space was vacant. A sensor in the parking meter correctly identified the vacancy, which was shown on the real time online map πŸ—ΊοΈ (Light blue oval indicates vacant)

β€œThe business district use case for shared streets could be great, especially when used in conjunction with car-free hours. Imagine a street that is car-free during peak hours, then a 10 mph shared street during off hours. And then imagine if every neighborhood had such a street” -Seattle Bike Blog

I have a collection of funny intersection sign pics πŸ’§ 🌰 Yesterday I was at corner of Water & Chestnut in historic downtown Wilmington, NC

Wilmington, NC airport has 8 gates, 4 cornhole boards, and when I showed up this afternoon there were 8 passengers in the regular line and 1 in the Clear line

Pilot curb lanes for autonomous shuttle vehicles along road through light industrial district Blue markings and armadillos delineate the usage, with blue merge zones at intersections -Peachtree Corners, GA near the city’s Curiosity Lab tech incubator that houses AV companies & other firms

πŸ”ˆ Cool backdrop for main conference room at Curiosity Lab in Peachtree Corners, GA near Atlanta Folks from 17+ cities meeting today/tmw at Cities Today Institute mobility conference I’ll be speaking tmw about agency collaboration with large firms - exploring how best to spur innovation

Greg has set a new standard for community engagement, leadership, vision, authenticity, and joy in his role as SDOT Director. While his directorship ends today, his friendship keeps on going. sdotblog.seattle.gov/2025/02/03/g...

Thank you for the thorough and thoughtful coverage of this important plan πŸš΄β€β™‚οΈ πŸ’š

At the last tour stop of the day, we celebrated how the MLK bike project improved pedestrian safety at intersection of MLK & Rainier #LastRideWithGreg Next up: 5pm happy hour at Stoup in Capitol Hill Please join :-)

Greg @spottnik.bsky.social has been an excellent Seattle DOT Director for the past 2.5 years. Car-free and a transit, walk & bike champion, he’s done what he could at big agency to make transportation work for everyone. ❀️ that his last day at work, Mon Feb 3, is an all day bus ride with the public

Nice recap of my tenure as SDOT Director πŸšΆβ€β™€οΈ πŸš΄β€β™‚οΈ πŸ›΄ 🚌 πŸšƒ πŸš† #LastRideWithGreg sdotblog.seattle.gov/2025/02/03/g...

Cool photos of the Georgetown to Downtown Safety Corridor project πŸš΄β€β™‚οΈ πŸ’š (Bonus content from Victor who shared these during my Beacon Hill tour stop!) #LastRideWithGreg

In Beacon Hill, SDOT construction engineer Victor showed me the street work in front of the light rail station. The median has been removed in preparation for bike lane installation #LastRideWithGreg

Visited the 3rd & Main project and was delighted that Guy from Real Change joined us #LastRideWithGreg And was special to have Matthew here- he was on the SDOT staff panel that interviewed me for the job in June 2022!

U District update for #LastRideWithGreg Advocates, SDOT staff and interns, and the (unofficial & beloved) Mayor of the U District met at Poindexter Coffee and talked about what we are excited for citywide in 2025
