A plumbing vent from a time before air admittance valves? It's all dark magic to me, but something to do with preventing airlocks, vacuums and other nasty stuff.

The problem with student study-bedroom housing is that if the market tanks they are not easily repurposed to other forms of use. Seems like a missed opportunity for affordable homes for working families close to the city centre.

It was the already consented BUILD-to-rent element which got dropped. In the latest application, 108 of the 315 homes are mid-market rent. But I take your point.

Something needs to change in the planning rules to get housing built for people who live in Edinburgh not evermore profit grabbing from students. Most of whom can’t afford these places.
