problem with getting good cat colony pics is the same problem as dealing with the raccoon - the cats trickle in at all hours of the NIGHT to eat. they clearly have their own hourly schedules and don't care how early it gets dark up here, and even sometimes show in sub-freezing temps!

Epilogue: Years later, I'm part way through high school and haven't seen these people in years, and one of the group leaders asks for me to sing at his wedding. He did an Internet Deep Dive to find sheet music of a wedding song from Robotech, and I sang it as his bride walked down the aisle.

It eventually got to the point that the leader tried to make us ALL recite at every opportunity because we were doing so badly at the memorization. Then one person said "semicolon" out loud during the reading, the leader rolled to see if it counted, it didn't, and everyone dogpiled that kid.

After that the group leaders decided the games were too off topic so they started us a game of DragonRaid, the Christian DnD equivalent. You couldn't use any abilities without literally reading off scripture. They tried to use this to force us to memorize it all, and my ADHD manifested in full force

After those two games went fine enough I thiiink? a DnD one-shot was attempted but the boys wanted to fight shit so they pissed off a Red Dragon and everyone died. Like, in less than an hour. Doesn't even count.

It was easy for me to zone out on those games because the boys would constantly derail and argue, I didn't know as much as they did so they largely ignored me, and I was quickly becoming disillusioned with Christianity because even those grognards "knew" gays went to hell and I knew I liked girls.

This group attempted tabletop gaming at least three times. First was a Marvel one-shot, went fine but I didn't know the comics so I don't remember much. Second was a Star Wars one-shot, which again I don't really remember bc I loved the movies but that whole group was obsessed with the BOOKS

I guess I'm going to have to switch from freestanding food to only during the day? Which sucks because some of the cats only come out after dusk. We've never had a group feeding; even though there's a whole colony they only seem to visit one at a time
