People... the online news trivia EAPM fundraiser is happening!!! Date and details to come.

NEW: A WIRED investigation of 911 calls placed from ICE detention sites across the US show a system inundated by life-threatening crises, delayed treatment, and overcrowding. By me & @dmehro.bsky.social. Free to read:

Cat lovers: the observational research study you've all been waiting for. Side note: I just checked, and the Monster Cat is neither curled left nor right. He is fully stretched out hanging halfway off the ottoman in the living room. I don't know what to do with this data point.

Dear Joe, please email me with a way to reply to you instead of through an email anonymizer so I can answer you directly. Some of the issues you seem to have are unique to you and cannot be replicated. Thanks, Stacy

Guess who got out her nonphoto blue pencils and decided to doodle out some little characters this morning? I haven't done any cartooning since a comic strip in high school. Now I'm outlining it. Oooooh...

So... New York friends... How's your day?

On a scale of zero to fascist-style authoritarianism, at what point do we we go, "Oh fuck. Yeah, this is fucking bad. Sound the alarms."

A word from @shehunnybadger.bsky.social, EAPM's publisher.

Ok, ok. I finally went to the doctor for the cough in yet another case of nurses (even the ones who have let their license lapse and haven't practiced in eons) make the worst patients... ...turns out this tiny sinus infection now shows signs of bacterial infection. Oops.

A word from @elizacussen.bsky.social, EAPM's organizational advancement consultant.

Hiding until weather goes back to normal on Thursday.

Email that made my day: "I've been doing this for 15 years. It's been a good run, but I'd like to do more with my life than poop out Wordpress websites... I am interested in trying to figure out a broader roll-out of services for accessible technology. ...I'd be very interested in helping out."

I get the best spam. No really. The best spam.

I'd be much more willing to subscribe to newsletters if buttons/links had title attributes and images had alt text. Luckily, my org is offering news sites, news orgs, and indie journalists services such as individualized accessibility plans. Email [email protected] for info.

Manos, The Hands of Fate.

I made grihba last night. I used my great-aunt's recipe, which of course is just a list of ingredients and no instructions. Luckily, they also happen to be the easiest cookies in the world and most delicious. And are now also serving as breakfast.

I feel like we covered this in Journalism 100. Or at least that first year of j-school. I specifically remember covering this in the first year. Can any of my fellow Ernie Pylers back me up here?

I've slept so much this weekend that I woke up and we're getting involved in yet another war that Congress didn't authorize? Wheh. I knew I was tired, but...

News doesn't take weekends off, and neither do we. We're working to make news accessible, every day, all day. We're Equal Access Public Media. https://givebutter.com/c/buildnews #Accessibility #Journalism #PressFreedom

When it comes to making journalism more accessible, we've got you. https://equalaccesspublicmedia.org/style-and-accessibility-guide/ #StyleAndAccessibilityGuide #NewsForAll #a11y #EAPM #Journalism

Those who attended "News for all" on Wednesday found out something that I bet most of you don't know: • Most news sites aren't accessible. • All those newsletters from indie journos (on Substack, Patreon, etc.)? Big accessibility problems. Want help? [email protected]

I think @onthemedia.bsky.social should absolutely do a segment about @equalaccesspublicmedia.org. I mean, accessibility in journalism — or lack of — right?

I just want to be very clear that I live in the Northeast so I never see 101°F. Ever. If I wanted to see triple digit temperatures, I woulda stayed in Phoenix. Or Ohio. Or I woulda planted roots in Mississippi. I live here so I never have to see triple digits. FFS.

Thanks to everyone who attended the "News for all" webinar on Wednesday — and to those who will be watching the "rerun" later. We're hearing great feedback. Don't forget to fill out the impact survey, please! We promise more events soon. (Maybe next time less serious, more fun. News trivia night?)

Thanks for checking in. You've reached a post on Stacy's account. Stacy is off today. She will get back to you after the holiday if it's a journalism accessibility emergency. Otherwise, she'll get back to you on Monday. If you'd like, please leave a message after the beep. *beep*

I'm out of words.
