OMG, @marketplace.org and @kairyssdal.bsky.social covered the book blurb economy! Constance Grady's interview here is 🔥 --so many of us in the industry asking these questions these days.

Hi, just a reminder that when you use Libro.fm for your audiobooks, you support independent bookshops vs. large corporations that drive them out of business. We also pay taxes. And so do indie bookshops.

What is it with TV shows that still treat *digital* security footage as if it's a video tape, and only one copy exists? Why can't they make copies at the sheriff's station? Why would holding a girl hostage for the footage have *any* weight when it could be posted on the internet in seconds?

I made a video about a meme. But make it serious, because that's my brand. www.youtube.com/watch?v=no8i...

This order has been upgraded to a *permanent* visa ban, meaning trans athletes attempting to enter the country to compete in LA's 2028 Summer Olympics could face lifetime exclusion from the U.S.

I really, really believe in contacting your reps and letting them know what you think and that you want them to stand up against all .... **this**.

It was never about saving babies

Oh noooo. (They should have been photographed with their masks off at the very least so everyone could know who they were. They deserve to be known for the Nazis they are.)

At my congresswoman's town hall. Please, please let your reps and senators know that you are holding them accountable.

Hey #nutmegsky, how in the world are you supposed to know when your emissions are due if they don't send out reminders until they're overdue and you owe them $20???

Two things my CT friends need to know RIGHT NOW in the state legislature: FIRST: We've got an amendment to the state equal protection bill that some--like the guy purporting to represent me in Torrington--are fighting hard. #nutmegsky Here's the original text:

Weird glitch happening on @bookriot.bsky.social tonight: I can't seem to get ads to not cover the copy on the page (no way to dismiss them). I love Bookshop, but I'd like to read the article.

There is still beauty in this world

I make $20 every six monthsish on the combined streams of all four of my albums on all streaming sites. At Bandcamp I make about $10 every time I sell an album, physical or download. Use Spotify if you want, but if you like living artists making a living, buy something from them where they get paid.

It's really kind of stark, looking at my Social Security statement, how little I've earned over my entire life. from 1991-2000, I earned a TOTAL (not each year, a TOTAL) of $46,498. I graduated high school in 1992, so okay, let's say 1992-2000. I was in college for some of it, but also worked FT.

I don't know if it's a good sign or a bad sign, but I've been trying to contact Senator Blumenthal, one of my two senators, and all I get is a voicemail box that appears to be full enough to drop the call. Does this mean he's being inundated with calls, or that they're no longer answering the phone?

Oh, don't mind me, just lying in bed having a panic attack about yet another brick of democracy crumbling without a single act to stop it from those who have the power to do something, anything.

It’s important to know that a lot of productive activity is happening in person and offline, too. Not all of it can be broadcast online, but we’ve had hundreds of people showing up to our trainings, mobilizations, and more. Keep going. Tyranny is eroded by a sea of small acts. Everything matters.

A friend was asking me for recommendations of books that might get banned/are under threat. Well, start with literally anything by a BIPOC/LGBTQ+ person, particularly if it talks about their life experiences in any way, but also, this is a good starting point: curiouscatbookshop.com/nonfiction-h...

I highly recommend watching some ridiculous TV that makes no sense right now, by the way. 1980s stuntmen trying to break each other out of jail vs. corrupt cops at least gives me a momentary sense of justice.

So close. "Trump moves to fire members of EEOC and NLRB, breaking the law" was right there.

Boy, these last eight days feel like a good reminder why democracies generally avoid letting people who attempt a coup come back to power….
