Valakari leaps above Davidson, Clark, and Levein, by win% after tonight. Turn some losses into draws and keep the defensive record since January and things can look rosy.

Its not really been a great season for anyone. Hearts resurgence peaking while Hibs are maybe due to falter. Dundee + Motherwell remain the sides to chase while, underlying numbers wise, we're rising again. Still a slither of hope but we need results more than performances now.

Starting to flatline a bit again, even 2 wins in our next 2 games doesnt put us back on track. Its harsh but theres no room for a single slip up now. Dundee also falling away but their win at McDiarmid looks a bigger result every passing week. Slow start to the window so costly.

Just a Gordon wondersave away from a point, in some respects, but do think the starting line up was wrong. Duke-McKenna simply has to play as much as possible and think Watt has played himself out the side too. Middle of the park lacks aggression.

Interesting to see this confirmed by a player. Did feel like a few got caught out by the speed of play against Kilmarnock and it cost us, but it might have been a necessary loss to learn from and maybe good it came before this week. See what lessons were learned today.

A disjointed performance probably not a surprise. Think 4 players made thier league debut today? Manager still clearly working out who can do what/who works best with who, and Kilmarnock played so well we couldn't get away with it. Needed more from Watt.

Biggest test so far for the new players with an unbelievable press from Kilmarnock and many, if not most, failed. No time to feel sorry for themselves, there's still enough games left where this could be a reality check and lesson they learn from. Things have to be quicker.

Amazing how controlling the game also turns luck in your favour. Maybe just coincidence but feels like the more we keep the ball/dominate, the more balls drop in our favour and/or deflections go our way.

Scottish Cup remains a special thing for St Johnstone, this the season I'll remember forever. youtu.be/UGAms_mCXzA?...

One who i think will be surprisingly good. Aerial duel wins low and probably needs a deeper look, but WyScout only count a "won" aerial duel as one where your team retains possession afterwards. Gives depth and is what Valakari wants in a CB. A fine deal.

What version will we get? WyScout suggests he mostly played as a wide man in a 4-4-2/4-2-3-1 for Harrogate and Sutton United. Harrogate were more possession heavy than Sutton, who played the lowest amount of passes in the league. Maybe suggest hes best at counter attacking?

Slowly creeping closer and closer to where we need to be. Kilmarnock, Hearts, County, Dundee, Aberdeen, the next 5. 10 points from that puts us on track for a 40pt season.

Didn't have Bozo Mikulic down as this seasons Callum Hendry "goalscoring saviour", but here we are.

I like this signing a lot.

As a sidenote, I think the first goal on Saturday means we've scored more league goals in Valakaris 17 league games (19) then we did in 29 games under Billy Start (17). Just 10 behind the total under Levein (29 goals/33 games). So aye.

Still need to catch up a fair bit with the sort of points tally we need to be targeting, but a really a run of 3 wins in a row is enough to drag us back onto track. Hard but not impossible, at this stage Everyone else on course for 40, which wont happen, so someone will drop off

Do wonder if the constant decision to move Wright to the left, that arguably helped swing Saturdays game our way, is because he'll come inside a lot more than Douglas or Raymond? Figures dont look high in percentages but they are. Idea may be that it allows an extra central player to push up?

Absolutely incredible stat from the BBC.

Squad left with just 1 CB, whole country telling you your relegated, 1-0 down after minues in a must win game, 4 mins left To drag a win from that is special, and well beyond footballing ability A great man once said St Johnstones heart was it's power, today we saw that again

Does this team have enough to keep us up? Feels like you'd have enough energy/drive in there to put the fear into plenty of teams on the way down even if they don't pull off the near impossible though.

Kind of looks like he might fit best in a back 3?

Perhaps stupidly reminiscing about "miracles" St Johnstone have pulled off, do wanted to check the table on this day in the "Gretna season" How many other clubs manage to drag this back to finish level with them by game 36? This is a special club

Think he ticks the boxes of what we need? Maybe not outstanding at Peterborough but he still seems to have added something there, while he was a standout the season before in Ireland. Seems like a proper, natural, right back in every way.

Both both his last seasons up, as it feels fairer in this instance. Seems like he was maybe used differently as its a wild swing in the "role" charts for a player to have without changing clubs. Quick look at clips shows hes more of a playmaker than Sprangler but will battle. A perfect pairing?

"Under Valakari, the promise is there that they can strive for something more than simply scrapping to survive season upon season in the long run." This week's column on why St Johnstone should persevere with Simo Valakari, come what may...👇 www.heraldscotland.com/sport/248600...

Eremenko very much a creative one who you need to build around? Seems exceptional around the box but would need carried defensively? Might be a gamble worth taking Taylor seems very Matt Smith-y to me. Maybe better on the ball but still weak off it? Just had a small look though

Can see why, presumably, data has flagged Griffith up as an all rounder worth scouting. Bit less rounded/attacking in American football mind you, but still effective in a way we need. Football in Panama seems *chaotic* so might be a few rough edges aggression wise.

Really, really, high on Taylor Steven and convinced he's going to be a star Don't think it'll be long until fans get on board that train with me either but I'm usually wrong 😅 Franczak/Steven/Kirk. The sun always rises, eventually, on those in the dark Maybe this our new dawn
