Pro-tip, just ask the artist what inspired their OC. You'd be surprised what you miss out on. Sometimes an artist will be inspired by something they love but you never heard of. So it hurts when that inspiration gets ignored. This also applies to vtubers models (AGAIN, JUST ASK)

Be cautious of an artist by the name of Ashwin/Ashwinarts here and elsewhere. As far as I can tell, everything he draws is a 1 to 1 trace of another artist's work, but done traditionally on paper. Which would be cool. Except he rarely credits the artists he works off of, and he sells his traces.

one of my favorite artist advice esp as an illustrator is "you don't have to make it accurate, it just has to be readable" it really shifted a lot of how i draw things especially anatomy, bc even when if you draw them accurate to your reference, that doesn't mean they look or feel Readable visually
