hell, Black people by way of the black panthers brought us the school breakfast & lunch program, were targeted by feds and other cops while kids were eating, and became state law in california partially to remove power from the black panthers and other Black led community care and political groups

I firmly believe that there's a relationship in here where people wrap devs/real people up with the media they engage with, and because they treat it as consumption of content, it informs the depersonalization of creators as part of the content machine for their entertainment.

Yes to all of this, articles calling this the “normalization of violence” as if violence is not already normalized in a system where people are barred from care due to corporate greed. It’s just saying that we as a society like our violence out of the public eye, done through bureaucracy.

Is it nice to make those jokes? Not particularly. But we live in a society that has trained us not to expect compassion when misfortune befalls us, only ruinous bills, corporate indifference, and disrespect. To demand a performance of niceties from those denied the barest humanity is grotesque.
