Everyone should know that Social Security is massively efficient. It's the most efficient program we have. Its overhead is only 0.5%. Cutting Social Security staff will do nothing to improve that and only result in problems with people getting the payments they are legally owed.

No doubt #DOGE will be all over this. 🤡

Jimmy Carter library abruptly cancels three upcoming book talks on civil rights history, homelessness, and climate change. It appears this is related to the new requirement to get approval from DC for all events. www.nytimes.com/2025/02/22/a...

Now that doesn't sound in the slightest like the sort of thing that a backward banana republic led by a needle-dicked narcissistic dictator would do...

Big Sky, Big Mistake, Big Attack on Health Liberty: on party line vote, Montana House committee advances bill that would ban mRNA vaccines

“Hello is this President Zelenskyy? Yes, my friend in Russia has offered the United States a great deal on minerals, would you like to make a better offer, or would you like to die.”

This is why you fight these cowards. The moment you stand up to them, they crumble. Homan has nothing. The Fourth Amendment is clear and I am well within my duties to educate people of their rights. He can threaten me with jail and call names all he wants. He’s got nothing else.

Just to be clear, because I don’t think the Post story highlights it enough: This was Trump’s day-one pick to lead the Social Security Admin until his nominee got confirmed who RESIGNED a career job rather than do what Musk’s DOGE team wants. This is Treasury (DOGE) and DOJ (Adams) all over again.

NEW: Three former U.S. Attorneys ask to file a brief in Eric Adams' case before Judge Dale Ho "in support of the Court’s authority to conduct a factual inquiry" into DOJ's actions leading to its Friday request to dismiss the case. storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

The Kremlin also appears to be resurrecting Putin's previous demands and information operations aimed at delegitimizing Ukraine and its government in the eyes of the West — notably ahead of the February 18 Russia-US bilateral meeting in Saudi Arabia. (1/3)

I feel like I'm going insane every time I see a media story about DOGE that doesn't also mention the fact that the Government Accountability Office exists and performs the exact function that DOGE pretends to, only in a credibly constitutional, non-partisan, and conflict-of-interest-free manner

New: Last night, hundreds of CDC post-doc fellows were fired, including all in the group who call themselves the "disease detectors," and are the future of public health lab leaders. One senior official told me, "It is going to cripple public health for decades." www.nbcnews.com/politics/dog...

The Trump Administration has started firing "several hundred" FAA probationary employees who maintain critical air traffic control infrastructure, according to their union. The move comes not even three weeks since the deadly midair collision over Washington, D.C. - Pete Muntean CNN reporting

For those keeping track, @nytimes.com ran the story today on the bottom of page A22.

Just because this needs to be said regularly: the patriotic American thing to do is to esteem our Canadian friends and neighbors, guard and respect Canada's right to self-determination, and condemn aggression and bullying whether domestic or international in nature.

He made it clear he doesn’t care about US laws or the Constitution. He’s also making it clear he doesn’t care about international law either. Pay attention.

Genuinely confused, if the Ex Orders aren't legally binding and are even being stopped by judges, why are so many scientific orgs rushing to implement them? Why not refuse, or better yet, organise to do so en-masse? Is there any joint leadership emerging?

"The Treasury Dept. had previously stated that Elez was only granted 'read-only' access to the payment system." Now they concede he was given “read/write” permissions over part of the trillion-$ system, but say that was inadvertent & corrected quickly & that he didn't use it. So reassuring! /1

$14.81 💙Colorado minimum wage As of 2025, twenty states use the $7.25 minimum wage: Alabama, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Hampshire, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Wisconsin, and Wyoming.

A gentle reminder that what you see on an algorithm-driven platform (Twitter, Meta, TikTok...) is not what you would like to see but what the platform wants you to see.

USAID’s website has been deleted, all that is left is a note saying all personnel are now on administrative leave and personnel outside the US are to be brought home. Completely illegal, no act of congress or even executive order was signed to dismantle the agency

Israel is now possibly beginning an operation in the West Bank akin to what they did to Gaza (which may now be ethnically cleansed). I would again like to congratulate everyone who spent the period from 10/7/2023 until 11/5/2024 shitting on the only viable alternative to this.

“Theirs is a logic of destruction. It is very hard to create a large, legitimate, functioning government. The oligarchs have no plan to govern. They will take what they can, and disable the rest. They want disorder in which their relative power will grow.” snyder.substack.com/p/the-logic-...

Did you know? In 1968, 24 Black men in Pittsburgh revolutionized emergency medicine. The Freedom House Ambulance Service was established to provide emergency medical care to underserved Black neighborhoods—creating the world’s first paramedics.

NYT reported that the number of potentially affected agents is as high as 6k. The bureau has about 13.7k agents total

Nothing could please America’s enemies more than the ongoing destruction of the federal government.

It is wild how unanswered all these attacks are. Seeing pictures of networking and campaigning at DNC events while the Federal government is picked over for parts is making me lose my mind.

Remember how Robert Bork was the guy who finally agreed to do the Saturday Night Massacre for Nixon after two other guys refused and resigned...and then about a decade later Ronald Reagan nominated Bork, who had opposed the Civil Rights Act of 1964, to sit on the Supreme Court?

It’s about creating chaos, using scapegoating as misdirection. In that chaos is where they dismantle and loot the federal government, then use those resources to build a permanent conservative power structure that cannot be defeated at the ballot box.

This is terrifying.

So… Who got the job because of the way she looks or who she knows, and not her qualifications?

He makes everything worse.

When they talk about privatizing Veterans’ care and Medicare, they mean allowing companies to provide healthcare for a profit. But how do companies make those profits? By *denying* care to many who need it. Don’t get fooled by the “privatization” label. It means “for profit” and YOU are the cost.

So much for focusing on meritocracy. Lol
