So the mechanism here is pretty worrying: Trump gives money to states he likes. Democrats get nothing. Question: are there any Republican states that are net donors to the USA? Texas, I guess? Maybe Florida?

I guess I don’t understand you, then. In my experience it isn’t about “types”. The job of the legal office is to protect the institution; universities are highly vulnerable to govt pressures; the office will always advise over-compliance unless some equal threat emerges.

My experience of this was in the UK not the US but the advice from university lawyers was to comply with extra-legal governmental threats in advance, so I wouldn’t actually rely on them.

Yes, but won’t the republican response to complaints about the price of eggs be to stop culling infected flocks? I guess if we all die of bird flu at least the government will be smaller.

This morning I reported the ADL to the ADL — they have a form for antisemitc incidents, so it’s pretty easy.
