On the communication side of dataviz — what would you say, were the "hits" in the last few years? Pieces that went viral, found wide adoption, opened new audiences, were shared a lot.

I posted this a few weeks ago but worth posting again. We have the POWER.

Been reading through a lot of December 1860 news, and I’m gonna tell you now: Abandon the Trump voters. They’re not worth the energy. They will either convert themselves through misery or die for their beliefs.

this site used to be VERY FUNNY and I know we live in hell right now, but ALL Y’ALL NEED TO MAKE HELL FUNNIER OR WE WILL NOT MAKE IT AND I AM NOT KIDDING

@NateWhite.blsky.social offered a stunning description of Donald Trump. Must read. So true. londondaily.com/british-writ...

From the vault..of quotes I'm impressed by all the work ordinary citizens have put in to try to understand all the different aspects of the climate and ecological crisis. You never know maybe one day our friends and family will start asking us questions..😳 And you will be able to answer

Aliette is an amazing, powerful, ingenious writer, but more importantly she's an amazing, kind-hearted person who deserves all that is good in the world, and instead she's in a tough situation. If you can afford to help her out at all, please do so. gofund.me/0835f91c

You may not like it, but Leah's right. There's a reason the Prodigal Son is a parable in almost every culture. when someone experiencing cognitive dissonance comes to you, you have two choices: embrace them, and win them over forever; or reject them, ensuring they never again question their beliefs.

Seeing video’s of families & elders who lost their homes in historic Altadena is heartbreaking. Here is a compiled list of gofundme’s for the displaced Black families of Altadena. docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d…

I’m just not sure the message that CEOs are worth more than you is a way to make people less angry at them.

Just give me buses. Seriously.

Billionnaires stole your living. Not immigrants. Not minorities. Not people who follow a different religion. Billionnaires. Noone needs a billion to live. Billionnaires could easily give you the money you lack and not notice the loss. They do not. They never will.

I still think it's funny that Chinese hackers completely comprised 8 major telecoms to spy on everyone and it saw like 1/100th of the hyperventilation reserved for TikTok

I took a Western literature class that went from Thucydides to Philip K. Dick exploring the idea that every era which has ever been lauded as a Golden Age thought their own age was shit and looked back nostalgically at a DIFFERENT Golden Age, and I’ve thought about it every single day for 22 years

Fun travel tip: forced perspective and a few plastic dinosaurs can make all your travel photos more interesting.

Before I make myself a cup of tea and dive back in - a reminder that what we're seeing now in a variety of ways is something envisioned (often for the worst) in many dystopian fictions - the merger of Capital and the State. The state sees business as the lifeblood of the Nation, rather than people.

And did Luigi the Magnificent watch The Incredibles? Was his child brain shaped by Mr Incredible working for an insurance company and getting fired for helping people navigate the paperwork designed to deny them? Probably not, but I like the story

Like and re-skeet if you hate Ronald Reagan Yes, down to his bones

Great thread

Brian Thompson was directly responsible for more American deaths and family bankruptcies than I can count. And it was all considered legal. He would never do a day in jail for causing all of that unnecessary suffering. People aren't supporting Luigi because he's got shredded abs.

I've waited a long time for a song like this to come along. Spread it like wildfire.

I’m thankful to all of you posting about her so I can get to know her work and her life. She sounds like she was an amazing person

It’s almost like right wing radicalisation of young men is a danger to everyone, not just leftists, women, and minorities

The uneven extraction of wealth and resources from South to North never ended, and the funds the South now demands for climate are a mere token of the kind of reparations that would actually be just (not to mention effective towards creating an actually-sustainable global society)

Cis people are routinely surprised to learn there is a carefully thought out, evidence based, many layered system requiring multiple points of consent, including parents, already in place to protect kids as part of gender-affirming care for minors. They keep demanding what already exists.

I just found out that around 20% of the neanderthal genome still exists today in living people!! No individual person has more than 3 or 4% but we don't all have the same bits. If you add up all the bits we've found, about a fifth of the Neanderthal genome is still present on earth today.
