I never understood why the sample containers are being dropped along the path the rover is taking, making collecting them for return all the more difficult. Why didn’t they stow them in a removable rack aboard the rover leaving a single target for recovery and return to Earth?

Since the mount was still set up following the lunar eclipse, we mounted the Ha solar scope and were excited to see several large prominences, some projecting like streamers *far* into space. No images, though. Too tired -- or lazy -- to set up the digital gear and DSLR efforts were a failure. 2/2

The LSST Camera is the largest digital camera ever built. Weighing over 3000 kilograms, the 3200-megapixel camera is at the center of Rubin Observatory’s optical system, which also features an 8.4-meter combined primary/tertiary mirror and a 3.5-meter secondary mirror.

With the final optical component in place, Rubin enters the last phase of testing before capturing long-awaited and highly-anticipated First Look images, followed by the start of the Legacy Survey of Space and Time.

Hey, thanks! I've been wanting to experiment with IR astrophotography and every hint helps!

And how, pray tell, do you know what it's like rolling up a dead body in a rug and plopping it into the trunk of your car? Hmmmm? 🤔

Active region 4012 is now capable of producing decent flares as it turns to an Earth-facing position. AR4007 is about to rotate over the limb. We're also seeing a new sunspot just rising over Sun's southeastern limb.

Among the active regions, AR4007 has developed instability and could become a source of powerful X-Class flares. It is approaching Sun's western limb, however, so it remains to be seen it it fires anything in Earth's direction!

The Active Regions visible on Sun today are characterized as having stable magnetic fields, posing little threat of flares. A CME from a March 1 eruption is expected to graze Earth on March 4, possibly resulting in high-latitude auroras.
