I spent a week on the road with no time for news. What I’ve come back to is difficult to comprehend. The new admin’s scorched earth approach to governance is downright Sherman-esque. Media is failing. Congress is failing. Citizens are not in the streets with pitchforks, but I fear it won’t be long.

I do not recall a 24 hour or one week news cycle with more disturbing news about the state of the presidency and the US government in it than those of today and the past seven days. January 6 was nothing compared to this. But make no mistake, this too is the gov't being torn apart by a mob of thugs.

Fukuoka’s local udon is gobo niku udon. Burdock root tempura & shaved simmered beef. This shop dresses up theirs with scallions, seaweed, & a raw egg for ¥980 ($6.30 USD). The complimentary kimchi is spicier & more acidic than expected from a Japanese restaurant & cuts through the umami of the soup.
