Thanks to everyone who shared this request. We updated our new Trump Tracker blog today with the voices of some federal scientists who reached out. More to come.
I believe the paywall for the blog has dropped (and if it hasn’t yet it will shortly). For the longer stories, it’s $2.99 per month for readers who want to read more than three articles per month.
Thank you for the response. That is accessible to me. But I'm the "choir." To reach people who may not otherwise engage, even having to register for an account (even if free) is too much of a barrier.
Almost there - this is Tobbacco Science level shit trending to Nazi Medical Experimentation
The first phase is to REMOVE actual science…
Economic impact be damned; it’s not all about profit
Go to @skyeperryman.bsky.social As head of Democracy Forward, she has many lawyers to assist government employees. 202-448-9090 [email protected] Please repost as often as possible. Get the word out. You have been illegally fired. You can sue. Bring your case to Democracy Forward ASAP.
I know this isn't your fault, but please feel free to relay this to your editors.
The public response from AAAS has been completely absent. Federal science agencies are getting decimated and along with it a research ecosystem that is going to years to recover, if it even can.
Many of AAAS's STPF fellows are losing jobs, current fellows and alum that have managed to stay are no existing in an openly anti-science administration, forced to try to cling on in the hopes that they can do a little good in this shit storm and hold on long enough to see new leaders on 4 years.
It's not enough for Science to report things. AAAS as an organization needs to step up and actually advocate for our science ecosystem like they claim is their mandate.
Consider suggesting to respondents the notion of forming a class for a suit arguing the firings are illegal. At least run the notion by AAAS legal. The situation needs more than reporting.

Will States respond and hire them?
Private sector?
Will they all just realize they are better off writing books and enjoying life while they can?
