I did start my talk by showing the photo and saying (with a wry smile, of course) how delighted I was to be in Uppsala….

Thanks so much Brent. I hope I made it clear in my talk that the discovery of the role of GDF15 in pregnancy sickness was very much an international collaborative effort

Pretty much any bit of useful science I have ever done has involved focusing on the outliers! Each to their own!

Ghastly as the tech bros are, and crude the tools they are using to seek out research they don’t approve of, the most organised efforts to expunge the words “female” and “woman” from sci pubs have actually been made by some of our “leftybro” friends in their ill-judged attempts to be inclusive.

cass.independent-review.uk/home/publica.... This article reveals how and why that happened at @nejm.org. In no other area of medicine would the conflict of interest revealed been allowed, or at least allowed to remain undeclared

Dr Galea’s letter implies that there will be a moratorium in the US in research using sex as a variable. I’ve seen statements explicitly instructing removal of gender ID but I’ve not seen any mention of removing sex. If anyone can find evidence can you post it or send it to me ? Thanks!

Can it really have hormonal actions at a distant cell surface receptor? This is eerily reminiscent of "cholesin" published in Cell last year. Again, a very unlikely hormone. All things are possible, but if something doesnt look in the least like a hormone then the burden of proof is very high.
