English Education prof here. Being kind and respectful to students and providing instruction within students’ ZPD is a pretty standard pedagogy. Anyone arguing against that (like reviewer 3) is just showing a clear lack of pedagogical knowledge and shouldn’t be reviewing this piece.

One thing I’ve noticed over the last couple years is that when I call out internalized fatphobia in film, tv, books, or life, people make clear that they don’t care or “don’t see it”. People I’ve considered friends have no issue accepting that kind of “quiet” fatphobia.
