What this piece lets out of the bag is, whatever is driving the far/right's hatred of trans people it is absolutely, positively not a desire to protect women from sexual violence. They are happy to celebrate a perpetrator of sexual violence, so long as he shares their hatred of trans people.

Brexitwang. A total shitshow. But no… Let’s not talk about it Let’s not face up to how the Tories ballsed up an already idiotic idea Let’s not fix the ruinous consequences of turning prejudice and ignorance into policy Let’s just slide into a perma-state of resentful crappiness and ‘move on’. FFS.

How scary is politics now? Starmer is struggling to get his message across - a combination of a horrendous economic situation & a lack of political nous. If Starmer fails, he'll be replaced by hard right Tories who will destroy the welfare state or actual Reform fascists who will likely start a war.

@mrjamesob.bsky.social ...needs to be a loud shout :-)

Tax is good. It pays for things we need; transport, health care, education, policing, street cleaning, firefighters, pensions...etc. Lower taxes mean these services get worse. Unless you are rich, lower taxes cost you money as combined buying power is more efficient than buying services privately.

Has the Telegraph been taken over by a brilliant satirist? All their stories barking mad. It's now the newspaper equivalent of @rosieisaholt.bsky.social or @sirmichaeltake.bsky.social .

NHS funding per patient is now more than 6% lower than in 2010. The NHS does not have 'more money than ever' as is constantly repeated. This is a lie, RP so everyone knows.

What should Starmer do. He's in a horrible position. Austerity has destroyed the country's infrastructure. Consequently, productivity and growth are very low. Covid (exacerbated by Tory corruption) depleted the reserves and Brexit destroyed inward investment. The economy needs a boost.

This needs to be said, loud, and often.

A few facts about Labour's Budget and farmers.

Do CAMHS actually make things worse? It's taken 4 years to get an autism assessment and an EHCP granted, although not yet actually drafted for my autistic child. There's been school refusal, self-harm, and depression along the way, but the GP won't get involved as it's CAMH's responsibility.

If Starmer doesn't achieve significant growth before the next general election, the populist media will have him on toast. A fiscally moderate course isn't going to cut it. His choice is to borrow more for a Keynesian boost or rejoin the single market and customs union...or it'll be Farage as PM.

The problem with Trump isn't so much him - his ideology is pro-Trump. Not good for US minorities or Ukrainians, but probably not going to invade anywhere. The issue is, he's shown that the best liar wins...which threatens the very basis of democracy and gives proper Fascists and Nazis a road map.
