I don't disagree with you. I wish that we had more control of what our taxes pay for. I'd much rather have my taxes go to infrastr and education than to the military industrial complex. And for that matter, if it is going to the military, I'd rather it go to the soldiers and veterans than companies.

Yeah. Isn't that what he's charging the government PER DAY for his idiots? Nice savings assholes...

We've changed in our society where the educated middle class, and the hard working factory workers, were deemed the most important driver in our economy. That changed with the coke fueled speculation under Reagan. Now we're considered sheep whose only worth is buying cheap shit. #RemoveTheOligarchy

Why do all these people around Chump look so much like cartoon villains? Narrow, beady eyes and bald heads and a temperament to match... Like dudes, just get laid and try to relax. You don't have to get off by destroying other people's lives.

Before Chump we could have said "if you want to sell in our markets and use our technology, you abide by our rules". Now I'm not so sure. Everyone else is setting up trading partners as fast as possible, leaving us behind. In one month we've lost our seat at the table. We'll see if we can get back.

I hope when this is over, we abolish billionaires. It's too much money and can only lead to harm. If you're rich enough to overthrow governments, you're too fucking rich. Once you hit 999,999,999, you're taxed at 100%. No loopholes. No offshore tax havens. You use our infrastructure, you pay for it.

Other than the essentials of groceries and toilet paper, I haven't bought a single thing since Christmas. Part of this is self preservation. I see that our economy is going to be destroyed and I want as much cash on hand as possible. And I'm also so damn tired of the elites abusing the middle class.

We're in a really bad place. We effectively don't have a Democrat party any longer. This document was essentially "Trust me bro, we got you next time". There will be no "next time" unless they start fighting like AOC and Bernie have been fighting all along. So far, the Dem. party is rudderless.

They did exactly what they wanted to do. Don't give them the benefit of the doubt that they were taken advantage of by Chump. They explicitly supported him in his coup and as such need to be treated as such when, and if, this is all finally over. They chose sides.
comment in response to post
They. Don't. Care. It's a Boogeyman that they can point to and justify cutting in order to give trillions of dollars to the super rich. We are at a crossroads where we either stand up against this tyranny or we are going to live like the Russians now do where there is no middle class.

It will be interesting to see if Fox News can keep the lid on the Republican anger at their elected officials. Democrats are rightfully pissed because we've seen this coming for 8 years. Republicans have had the wool pulled over their eyes for the past 30 years. This is different. It affects them.

2: They know that she therefore have taken over the country. They WILL NOT let this power go. We are now in a cold civil war that will eventually get hot once people realize that our freedoms are over.

Well unfortunately the planet requires 6.8 billion humans to disappear in 10 years.

I find it rather sad unfortunately. You can tell people all day long of the terrible consequences that we're doing to the planet and the enormous loss in biodiversity, and yet nobody seems to care. I agree with you, and yet it's a terrible burden to bear. Yet we keep trying.

He's just straight up killing people at this point in time. We're going to look back at these times in the future and wonder what the fuck we were thinking.

She's been politically corrupt her entire career and only is the AG now because she protected Cheeto Mussolini while in Florida. Unfortunately, like the rest of his terrible choices, she's making a mockery of her position and will forever damage the government position she holds.
comment in response to post
They won't because they've put all of their chips into the middle of the table. They are TOTALLY involved with the coup hoping that they'll be on the winning side. There is ZERO chance that they'll give up the power they're stealing in the Exec branch at the next elect, so I expect not to have one.

We must keep track of who is actively destroying our country so they can be held accountable when this is (hopefully) all over. The reason we're even in this shitty situation is because nobody in leadership was held accountable for J6. Democrats have to stop the "moving on for solidarity" bullshit.

Idiots. Just shows how little Putin cares about anyone else but himself. The winds will carry any dust from there east into Russia.

No, unfortunately I don't think technology will save us, or the planet. I'm afraid the door has closed already to save our species, especially with the rise in authoritarian governments around the world. Technology only causes us to accelerate the train towards the cliff. Hubris maximized.

So far he's not wrong. We don't have a functional Congress or judiciary to counteract him. Congress is full of assholes who've betrayed their oath to the Constitution and the judiciary is too slow to eff. counteract the assault on our constitution. Only WE can counter him and that window is closing.

I'd assume that the carrying capacity would change over time based upon technological innovation, but ultimately would decrease due to the reduction in the ability of the planet to sustain life from CO2 increase and biodiversity loss.
comment in response to post
Yes, I agree that modern ag has been horrendous to the environment. Thomas Malthus was initially wrong and of course the feeding capacity has increased, but the damage of modern ag to the planet (soil erosion, increased salinity, etc) will cause an ultimate decline of total carrying capacity.
comment in response to post
I'm glad that MY taxes that were apportioned to projects that had been deliberated over multiple sessions of congress is now just being gutted by fucking kids. This is DISENFRANCHISEMENT. We've elected people who've fought for programs for all of us and they're being cut by unelected assholes.
comment in response to post
That's an insane amount of land utilized solely for pastures... So much lost in diversity just for clear-cutting for agricultural use.
comment in response to post
I question the planetary carrying capacity line. I'd assume that line would rise as modern ag. methods developed. We've absolutely gone WAY too far into depend. on chems both for fertilizer as well as pest control. I'd think proper ag. methods (crop rotation, permaculture, etc) increase that line.

If I recall it's just been the last 50 years or so where that number has changed so drastically. I believe it was 20% or so wild biomass in the 70s. Still a horrible # to what it should be. I can't help but feel that humans are a virus on the planet. Feeding on everything in an area until it's dead.

I've always wanted to study macro environmental impact by different cultures to determine how best to live. This obv. differs depending on the local geograph. conditions. There just isn't enough space in the world for everyone to live as the Amish (which is presumpt. to think that's the right way)
comment in response to post
Very logical and emotionally mature realization. Obviously being born is not something we have a say in, but the decisions we make damage the environment to different degrees. As long as you're doing your best to mitigate as much damage as possible and make positive educational impacts to others...

When death threats are coming in, the FBI should investigate these with absolute urgency. Something tells me they won't in these instances. They should be allowed to have anonymous voting, but of course the Republicans will not care and in fact love that the Democrats are being intimidated.

It's amazing to me just how little money and power it takes for someone to absolutely abandon their principles. Is this a lack of pride and social pressure that brought us here where money trumps ethics?
comment in response to post
Yes, but it's THEIR fascist, so it's hunky dory...

They're going to figure out a way to support the red states while cutting off the blue states even though the blue states send the majority of the taxes to the feds. We're going to have to figure out how to handle it because the Republicans in red states didn't give a shit about the blue states.
comment in response to post
A study was released years ago that Republicans are drawn towards authoritarian leaders. It's not hard to see that's true. Time and time again they'll vote against their principles and self interest in order to support someone they think is strong. There's a reason they're thought of as regressive.
comment in response to post
They already funnel more blue states' money to red states. With the programming changes they're implementing at OMB and with Vought in charge, they're going to be able to siphon even more money to the red states. Blue State governors need to band together and prevent this from happening.

Thank you for letting me know. I somehow think he has his dirty little fingers in it somehow. He was part of Chump's transition team and coord. the meeting between chump and Putin in the Seychelles. He's been actively selling weapons around the world including to despots, including ours I'd think.

No no, remember he's smart and you all are stupid. He deserves to keep his money AND yours!

They use it to pacify the Republicans. It's unproductive and self serving. They can say they reported on it, but it's doing more harm. You might as well call a beheading "weight loss". They have no right to cut programs that they don't like. They'll then use the $ for programs that hurt democracy.
