I listened to a terrific “Joy of Why” podcast.
@stevenstrogatz.com had Yang-Hui He, a Cambridge mathematician, as his guest. The conversation was so lively and informative.

Oh and for dynamical systems (used to study behavior of differential equations) a fantastic book is "Nonlinear Dynamics and Chaos" by @stevenstrogatz.com
It doesn't go into partial differential equations, but it's still what shows you crucial techniques that apply for more complicated things too.
