(2/3) The court proceedings are brief and give no details of how he was enslaved or where he came from. Our knowledge of Jamey was reduced to a single line of text in the minutes of a Virginian council. He was executed for his actions.

(4/8) At the core of this project are representatives from thirteen (and counting) regional Indigenous nations and communities who provide invaluable, direct, and compensated input and consultation into all aspects of this project.

(2/8) Through use of archival records and present-day tribal histories and perspectives, our project focuses on the histories of settler colonialism and its legacies through the lens of enslavement, servitude, and unfreedom of Indigenous peoples across the Americas.
