Working up a fever in a one-horse town. Somerville-based garage-punk-pub-rock on a Rum Bar Records. The music stuff is the band’s; the politics, academic crotchets, and low-effort posts are mine. https://rumbarrecords.bandcamp.com/track/cmon-all-ye-boys

Just saw this account reflecting some comments @klobuchar.senate.gov made on MSNBC, exactly the kind of thing I was looking for.
Much needed pushback and it generated a good article in Lee's state as well.

As an aging white guy with multiple faded Yo La Tengo shirts, I can relate. One suggestion: MIT’s WMBR radio station on Friday mornings 8:00 to 10:00. You can stream it. All the weekday “Breakfast of Champions” DJs are great, but I’ve discovered so much stuff from Jon Bernhardt on his Friday show.

These are three of my favorites, too. Tom T. Hall: such a righteous dude.

You’re right. It’s weird: I was far too enamored with Molly Ringwald at the time to notice much. Plus, the ending’s slathered with “If You Leave.” But now, it’s so obvious that she and Andrew McCarthy’s character have no chemistry and nothing to talk about. They’re inert.

They present opposing arguments in the same universe. With Pretty In Pink, you get to chase desire outside of your socioeconomic class. But SKOW says: Stay with your class; all you need is right in front of you. (I think Duckie got together with Andie in the original ending of Pretty In Pink).

“Andrew Cunanan”: I bet I haven’t thought of that name in 20 years. It was like something submerged in 400 feet of water floating to the surface.
