They may not be aware of it, but some of Strix’s partners have, at any rate. Heyooooooo (6.1 says the aetherscience solution to fitting large payloads through small passages is “tunnel through the 13th.” The warding scale stays on.)

So many retellings of folklore that miss the mark is because their authors think the same way plagiarists act; they don't respect the source material, they think they are better than, they don't want to understand or believe that people of antiquity were as intelligent, with as rich interior lives

I like these for the component of mutual vulnerability. Both what OP said and “From most angles, the kisser is putting their whole face in the kissee’s hand.”

My toxic RPG enjoyer trait is that I implicitly assume my game characters have as much trouble with rest/restorative sleep as I do, and I get illogically real big mad when games “interrupt” their rest time to deliver story beats.

Stubbornness that goes well beyond the logical “I’m open to a change of tack if new information warrants it,” and bone-deep cynicism about people in general exacerbated by perpetual overstim/exhaustion (“extending the benefit of the doubt takes spare energy I don’t have”) are the main suspects.

Strix was "weird kid skulking around the backyard making mudpies," but the backyard was the Sagolii and the mudpies were aetherophysics experiments. Also reading any scientific literature she could get her hands on. Having that basis of experience helped a lot with her subsequent research projec.t

Do you ever think about the names of the songs about the places from the War of the Magi? Because I do.

people love to act like ironic detachment and being a hater is so cool but have you ever tried being sincere and liking things

A big chunk of my experience as a fan is the joy of assigning function to greebles while also knowing they serve no function.

Started a new BG3 playthrough. Maybe I’ll get more than a few inches into Act II this time. Going with Urchin background was the best decision; Inspo from helping kids and a plausible rationale for my compulsion to case every room and open every crate.

I think some of my interest in IPs like Middle Earth, Earthsea, Dune, Chrestomanci, Discworld etc, where the grist comes from thinking deeply about how complex (environmental, cultural, political, scientific) systems interact, made it into Strix's background by osmosis.

a pet peeve of mine is when folks talk about transgressive art and have to constantly reaffirm that they like it the "right way" like i get where they're coming from but also i wish it didn't have to be this way. you can just like a thing, that's good enough i think

making my periodic FFXIV Glamour Farming Public Announcement in a discord I'm in and thought I'd crosspost it here because a lot of people don't realize that glamour farming in leveling dungeons is only semi-random and not endless/hopeless/a true chore

if you are missing stuff on your main or have alts: i've gone ahead and made a thread of the collectible hairstyles/glams/emotes/facewear from occult crescent that are now much cheaper and more accessible on the market board as a result. enjoy!

This is what a medieval castle really looked like. That pop culture idea of bare masonry walls wasn't true. Plaster protected the walls, and tapestries and curtains served as insulation. Besides, people always liked painted walls!

LRP, Identity policing *from other LGBTs* set me way back on figuring myself out. Tell me I don't belong at Pride because I don't look "gay enough" or "sexy enough" if you want to be stuffed into/fired out of a tshirt cannon ass first.

not my screenshot but literally actually this

Harissa. She’s got a favorite that’s heavy on garlic and preserved lemon, that she buys by the case when she’s in Ul’dah or has learned to approximate in her own kitchen when it’s not available.

I want two: A non-magic healer and a tank that’s even more explicitly “magic knight” than PLD/DRK.

Strix's extended family has their own version of long-keeping, nutritionally dense survival rations that are easy to eat on the move, but they don't, like, consider it a spiritual virtue to eat it always. The fish isn't the problem, it's the texture and the total lack of seasoning.

Thinking about The Character™️has got to be one of my all-time favorite things. Costs nothing, can be done from anywhere, at any time, for however long I want, and always makes me feel better. 10/10 hobby, fantastic stuff.

The Temple of Qarn was abandoned mid-expansion due to financial woes during Lalafuto IV's reign in the war between Sil'dih and Belah'dia. Many of its stone guardians were created with knowledge inherited from the Mhachi civilization.

“Ah, I see you’re doing some kind of impossibly advanced 4D chess psy-op that’s going to make our enemies claw their own eyes out. *hand over heart* ‘For those we’ve lost, for those who might yet be saved.’ In that case, far be it from me to refuse.”
