This is not a drill.

Is everyone ok? #WokeCheckIn

Elon Musk standing in the Oval Office calling the bureaucracy an “unelected, unconstitutional arm of government” that “people don’t want” is peak idiocracy. #idiocracy

The major party stitch up on electoral reform is breathtaking. At a moment when their share of the vote (and therefore the trust) is the lowest in decades, hoodwinking the public to stitch up elections doesn’t seem like a winning strategy.

Agree with Julia B here (no surprises there!) but also feel active resistance is needed in a world more crazy by the hour. Disciplined, strategic, LOUD resistance. www.smh.com.au/world/north-...

Mr Trump’s suggestion that he ‘take over’ Gaza & ‘own’ the territory would equate to forced displacement of an entire population. OR … he could try not to contravene just about every international law known to mankind.

The leader of the free world advocates ethnic cleansing and dresses it up as a golden real estate opportunity. Here’s the dire place we find ourselves just three weeks into the second Trump administration. www.theage.com.au/world/middle...

Surprised that everyone’s surprised that Trump wants to invade and occupy Palestine. Nothing he’s done since January 20 has been in any way unpredictable.

As well as everything else wrong with this, it’s embarrassing for its lack of originality. Trump says something + wait 5 seconds …

Trump foregoing DEI hiring practices in favour of merit-based ones is truly a delicious irony.

Not sure the man who caused the nation to be anxious and divided is the right man for the job? www.smh.com.au/politics/fed...

Feels like Juice (by Tim Winton), when they’re talking about what happened to get them there.

Meta cancelling fact checking because of a “cultural tipping point towards prioritising free speech”?? Free for all, more like. Seriously troubling.

How 2025 started. Quite the portent.

First thing I saw out the window this morning. An ominous start to the year?

Really hoping the passing of Jimmy Carter isn’t a harbinger of the fate of American democracy.

The fastest growing political party in Australia isn't a party at all. Approximately 1/3 of voting Australians didn't vote for any of the major parties at the '22 election. The rise of the community independents, candidates not beholden to any party, is changing our political scene for the better.

Such disciplined timidity from this government. The only bold action they seem capable of taking is to approve new coal mines. www.smh.com.au/politics/fed...

The media fails to report that voters in many Coalition-held seats want #ClimateAction and a transition to #renewables. The Coalition only serves their fossil fuel industry donors. Principled, independent candidates like @nicboele.bsky.social in Bradfield are the solution. #auspol #BradfieldVotes

Putting out bad news with the garbage, a few days before Christmas. So utterly devastated at this government’s continuous and concerted climate destruction efforts. Albanese government approves four coalmine expansions as Greens condemn ‘despicable’ move

NSW’s native forest logging industry is bleeding money — $73M in losses over 4 years. Independent analysis find it’s 'not economically viable'. Time for Labor to deliver on its promise to end native forest logging & grow tourism-based economies. www.abc.net.au/news/2024-12...

‘Avoiding division’ as the reason to not stand beside all three of our flags is the most perfect demonstration of gaslighting the Australian public that you will ever see. www.smh.com.au/politics/fed...

The undermining of the institutions of our democracy is SUCH a troubling new development. Trumpian politics 101. www.smh.com.au/politics/fed...

How long are we going to keep subsidising these palaces of privilege?

We’re doing so well at cultivating a class divide in this country. www.smh.com.au/national/nsw...

To be clear, current environmental laws give Tanya Plibersek the power to save the maugean skate, a dinosaur era fish AKA the ‘thylacine of the sea’ from the salmon industry. The government doesnt need new laws to save the skate, it needs new courage

So refreshing, right? A political movement with a sense of joy and possibility to it. Who would’ve thought that possible. Proud as punch.🥰 www.smh.com.au/politics/fed...

"If we're going to import gas, that is a huge failure of public policy...to require the gas companies to reserve gas to suit Australia's domestic needs. "This will make us the laughing stock of the world." - Former South Australian Premier Hon Mike Rann

Safe to say @nicboele will always be on the voters’ side - unlike Mr Fletcher, who thinks those who voted independent in 2022 are all a bit dim ….

They still don’t get it. The major parties are more concerned with clinging to power than acting on the issues that matter to Australians. For them our communities are a means to an end; not an end in itself. On the issues that matter, and getting it done better, Independence is the difference.
