"This collection is an early front-runner for the best physical media release of 2025." This one means a lot because @severinfilms.bsky.social doesn't get enough film establishment love for our work (imo) and I've been waiting for something I worked on to make it into this column!

A very happy Year of the Snake to those celebrating. (It's my birth year by the way)

I'm very happy to be part of this initiative. It's important that we are always looking for new ways to build scholarly networks and communities, and I have high hopes for this.

Whoever invented Dry January is a really vicious bastard.

On the one hand, the UK govt’s AI Opportunities Action Plan sounds somewhat utopian; on the other hand, the hand has six fingers and there are three of them per person.

Good afternoon, dear alma mater @durhamclassics.bsky.social 😀

A single 400-year-old ancient oak produces 234,000 litres of oxygen a year while soaking up carbon dioxide, and can support more than 2,000 species of bird, insect, fungus, and lichen. Nature is amazing - we need more of it, not less. Please repost if you agree 🌳

Digital Humanities is not a "big tent", it is a campsite with numerous tents which share facilities, alignment, some aspects of design, broad functional principles, and the basic purpose of keeping out the rain. If bugs can't get in, so much the better.

No, I understand the importance of eating biscuits and binging box sets.

Sending me two chasing emails a day will not make things happen more quickly, it will put me in a bad mood. I get things done so much more quickly when I'm not in a bad mood.

No arguments here.

Been checking out the OS map of my new area. Sites like the atomic weapons lab at Burghfield used to be blanked out, now with Google Earth etc they don't bother any more.

I don't have that many good memories of being a Head of Department in the pandemic, but the opportunity to reflect on digital teaching practices and their wider lessons for #DigitalHumanities in this volume is one. Thanks again to @gabrielh.bsky.social, Anouk, Simon, and all who made it happen.
