A single 400-year-old ancient oak produces 234,000 litres of oxygen a year while soaking up carbon dioxide, and can support more than 2,000 species of bird, insect, fungus, and lichen. Nature is amazing - we need more of it, not less. Please repost if you agree π³

I'm almost tempted to say no people.

The oak shown is rotting in the centre ; returning carbon dioxide to the atmosphere.
We need to plant more friends for them, as well as protect, respect and hug them π³ π π
They've killed people...
I still love them but.

I see now you are replying to what I wrote about trees being the kindest beings in the world. π
Although to be fair, the people who had been caught by it were turned into fertiliser I guess, so it's being kind to the planet π
If yes [apologies if I'm wrong], calamus can actually be used to treat asthma, headaches, depression, and a few other things πΏ
Like most stuff - whether it helps or harms, it's all about the dose π
Worse ways to go I guess!
Here is a tidbit that I learned from a friend that plays the clarinet & goes to Tanzania in the summers to teach. Check out the Blackwood tree in this video. They cleanse the air incredibly well, & it is the only tree that clarinets are made out of.
We love our little piece of dirt
I only care about edible perennials these days!
Do you have room for a food forest?
Putting up two small greenhouses and the permanent garden this spring.
Get homes out of proximity to wildlife habitats.
Cancel building in wetlands areas or flyway areas.
Humans donβt need houses in the mountains challenged by drought.
Humans should manage their cities and fund improving livability in urban areas.
These spaces are jewels of biodiversity. Very beautiful!
P.S. Greetings to Robin Hood in Sherwood Forest! βοΈ
It is beautiful!!
Improve biodiversity.
CHANGE the systems of property care to something more complex.
Increase food availability AND community connectivity.
CHANGE how society operates as a whole from one of constant pruning to GROWTH.
That is the perfect way to frame it!!!
Thank you!!!
I'm writing that down!!

And you know that if we could just shift that social norm, suddenly, the average person would be happy to grow forest, ONLY BECAUSE, they don't want to be the only one on the block not doing it!!!

The knowledge of First Nations peoples needs to be normalized, and people need to speak out against clear cutting and overdevelopment!
So much beauty & character!
One new tree does not replace an old growth felled one.
But yes, maple syrup is sweet.

Does a young oak tree capture more atmospheric carbon as it grows than an old mature tree does?
