George Sheldrick will be missed🕯️🕯️🕯️#SHELX #crystallography #education

My dream of going to MOF2026 in New Orleans is slowly shattering....

Completely condemn the highly disappointing decision by @acs.org to take down and then amend their pages on Diversity, equity, and inclusion - www.acs.org/about/divers... - this is not what #RealTimeChem stands for.

Anyone who ever had a student do something with AI knows that we are lightyears from being replaced.

What's the logic between login on to Outlook mobile requiring using Outlook mobile to generate a single use code which has to be verified by Outlook to approve the login. I think there is a fallacy somewhere hidden in there.

The past days we watched 'Thou Shalt Not Steal' on TV (great show, highly recommend). And my wife looked up the soundtrack afterwards to ID the Slim Dusty song played throughout. I want to believe this is the year that she will embrace country music after more than 10 years of firm opposition.

It's just a temporary space. But in six months or so it will be remodelled and our first reactions will be cooking. 😎 #chemsky

Roughly 6,000 readers answered our poll, with many declaring that Bluesky was nicer, kinder and less antagonistic to science than X https://go.nature.com/42tH8Ai

I really hope all scientists and people living in a fact-based reality who still voted Trump realize what they have done.

Stefania Grecea at Uni. Of Amsterdam is looking for a PhD in MOFs for H2 purification. Really nice PI and great scientist. More info at werkenbij.uva.nl/en/vacancies... #chemsky

Yep. We have been out of contract with Elsevier at MIT for 4.5 years now, at substantial savings to the Institute. Happy to share our experience with any library interested in following suit.

Sad to hear about Lynch. When it comes to visual enretainment, him and Haneke has had the biggest impact on me. Twin Peaks, Wild at Heart, Lost Highway. Every rewatch brings something new. 😥

Emotional day as Jaskaran, our groups first PhD, is defending today. It's been a great trip and we would not be where we are today without his contribution. Big thanks to Klaus Koren (Aarhus Uni.), Stefania Grecea (Uni. Amsterdam) & Ali Efthekari (DTU) for serving on the committee. #chemsky

Do you know a UK-based wheelchair user who works in a lab and would be willing to user-test our prototype of what is believed to be the first-ever lab coat adapted for wheelchair users? Please share far & wide! Interest form: forms.office.com/e/66FhcQjqRT More info: www.ucl.ac.uk/ucl-east/new...

📢A 1-y (may be extended) postdoctoral researcher position 👩‍🔬👨‍🔬 available at @uio.no as part of the ERC Synergy CuBE project. Still 1 week left to apply for a postdoc position in computational design of disordered crystalline materials in my group at Aalborg University, Denmark! See more in the link below #compchem #chemsky

Mileage may wary, but in my experience, writing a 300 word summary of your new publication is probably the least time-intensive part of doing research. 💀

Good talking to @cenmag.bsky.social and @kvasquez.bsky.social about neurodivergence in STEM. Great article. My callout is to neurotypical folks to learn more so they can provide supports to students. #ActuallyAutistic cen.acs.org/careers/dive...

Our group has gone through a lot of changes this year, which has been both challenging and rewarding. Last week we got a 6.2 MDKK grant from EUDP to support our work on MOF sensors. Today Bruker delivered an early Xmas gift. Very thankful to all the PhDs, PDs and students who made all this possible.

📣 Postdoc position in computational materials chemistry available I am looking for a postdoc to join my group and work on computational design of disordered crystalline materials Read more and apply here: www.vacancies.aau.dk/scientific-p... Repost are highly appreciated! #compchem

A classic editorial by Prashant Kamat @kamat.bsky.social that was partial inspiration for the quoted thread below: pubs.acs.org/doi/full/10.... #ChemSky #Physics 🧪

In our latest preprint we show how MOF thin films coupled to QCM to selectively extract dissolved methane in water. The sensor has both rapid response rate and selectivity, with a strong performance advantage compared to starte of art marine sensors. Read more: 10.26434/chemrxiv-2024-x62zz

Trying to activate my presence again. So why not start with good news. Humbled and honored to recieve 410K EUR from the Independent research Council to continue our work on MOF-based env. sensors. Would not be possible without our excellent team of PhDs/postdocs: dff.dk/en/current-n... #chemsky

I started to this to help build the porous materials community here on Bluesky. Apologies if you're here and/or identify this way but I left you out, happy to add anyone to this who wants to be included. Please reskeet and signpost to newcomers 🙏 go.bsky.app/ERJ6GEu
