But I do think Germany's neighbors might enjoy better relations on the matter than Japan's.
comment in response to post
Hmm. I wonder. I used to agree with this, but the more recent events cause me to re-examine what I thought i knew of the German cultural psyche re WW2, the less comfortable I am making this comparison. Truly, I don't know Germany or Japan well enough to compare cultural consciences.

Combination of not holding the Japanese as morally culpable as the Germans (because of racism towards Asians and the usefulness of having friendly Japanese relations), the Japanese cultural left exports being mostly kinda quiet and subtle and the Japanese cultural right exports... well...

I'm not saying that the nukes were a good thing, but my Korean family's perspective is broadly confusion at the amount Americans self-flagellate about that

Got what I thought was a two day edit job yesterday but she warned me it was coming the day before. No big deal. Turned a first draft around after an hour late at work. Looked at it more today. This is a two week edit job with extremely specific requirements. It is due today.

it's funny that we have two in common when I don't think of us as having very similar personalities. not like opposites but.

Critics are calling it, "the only book i've ever read where someone got misgendered so hard they shot laser beams out of their eyes over it, and that should be a cover quote." (Look, I got the quote after I made the cover.) Currently writing the sequel!

They look fun at least! (Never seen that movie!)

I'm less confident about this because like 80% of the people I've asked to weigh in simply refuse to take payment, but I haven't had anyone be insulted by this offer.
comment in response to post
Oh. Expertise/sensitivity i offer to pay (which feels a closer comparison than alpha reading fiction, which is comfortably a "friend favor) at $25 to $50.

I normally am getting much larger works done than this, but a starter range is $50 to $80 an hour. Number of pages an hour is going to vary a lot on content, but that sounds like a two hour job to me.

Chidi is like the best possible take on my personality haha Ben also fun. The other two have their moments

And that explains why right wing pols tend to be better at it

I'm just thinking about how, if you're a moderately principled politician but with a big ego and an expectation that you can command a room: you're going to struggle a lot more with this than someone with a big ego, no principles, and a desire to primal scream until something echoes

Shit. This makes sense. Extrapolates well too.

I most hate whatever non-right political persuasion I've most recently spoken to, since I usually have annoyance points with the entirety of the reasonable political spectrum But centrists tend to have the most power I mean, I hate the right wing by far and the most but that's a different category

What calls to you rn?

Not in any like big grand purpose way. Immediate moral obligations, tops

Emphasis on the finger wag. You could easily do a... sly reference dunk and pivot? I'm compulsively a humorless moral scold and I still learned that one before I entered the workforce

I had all these ideas just sitting in the back and i just needed an outline i liked to finally get moving

Amazing, thank you

You would think so but the flip side is that i basically have never been hired for something that I do have experience in and I spent most of my career at sub poverty line wages It's mostly been bragging rights of a type: i can turn disasters into mediocrity with unrivaled consistency
comment in response to post
... that's an interesting point. Will keep it in my back pocket given... *gestures*

Part of this is repeatedly because someone who actually would have the relevant experience and training would cost much more and then I'm perfectionist about it and turn out something serviceable

It absolutely is. Still funny though
