Squeenix or WHICHEVER company will always take the nuclear option when targeting someone who uses their IP to make money. Corpos want all the money for themselves and taking a single cent that they have rights to is the quickest way to bring the whole angry hornets nest down on all our heads.

Exactly this! Tipping someone for their hard work and supporting someone who knows how to do something You don't is just good! (Support your local artists!) Pay-walling individual mods though is like putting targets on the backs of every modder for a community, whether they pay-wall or not.

I get the idea of "I made a thing, I should be compensated for said thing." But seriously, NO mods should be paid just from a cautionary standpoint. Free mods won't draw ire of big, angry corpos (AS MUCH) like someone else making money off their IP's will. It's just common sense!
