Lower airfare was a benefit of deregulation. Legacy airlines folding was (to me personally) a negative. Airlines now structure rates that are not clear. Does this mean a return to regulatory price structures? IDK. I'd prefer upfront pricing, wouldn't you?

Deregulation. It was how Southwest came into being, and Braniff and PanAm failed.
