When you look at the spending, the federal government is an insurance operation with an army as the saying goes. Cutting other stuff is ritual sacrifice, spending-wise.

Could some agencies be more efficient ? Obviously. But in the grand scheme, purging employees won't actually save real money in a multitrillion dollar operation nor accomplish much other than give DOGE a bonfire to dance around
