The drawing looks like heā€™s a Sikh (like me :>), he might have been prepping to make it for Langar (free community kitchen available to everyone) at the Gurudwra (Sikh Temple) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Langar_...

Iā€™m just super weary of relying on Private-Public Partnerships. Canada has a good opportunity here to build up a nationally owned operator which maybe eventually can export its own expertise to other countries/jurisdictions. Much like how China does for example!

Im a little less hopeful after reading the PMā€™s readout: ā€œCadence has been carefully selected to not only co-design and build, but also to finance, operate, and maintain this project.ā€ ā€œoperate and maintain the projectā€ feels, not good. Curious to get @rmtransit.bsky.socialā€™s thoughts on this

Also Iā€™m curious what happens to VIA once this is built? Do they just get sidelined? If so, thatā€™s unfortunate.

Like without even getting into what theyā€™re calling for, if your positioning yourself as a canadian initiative, you should at least be optically using Canadian infra no?

šŸ‡ØšŸ‡¦ can be progressive, and I think itā€™s in our nature as Canadians to be progressive, welcoming, and friendly. I hope that, with this era coming to a close, we can make room for progress in this country with a strong working class, and social safety net. I hope for better. I love this country.(4/4)

He did, unfortunately became a lightning rod for the pain Canadians are feeling right now. And while thatā€™s understandable, I think thatā€™s unfortunate because it distracts from the real solutions we can work towards to build a stronger working class. It also lets the Provinces off the hook. (3/4)

However, the policies which actually ventured into progressiveness outside of just co-opting progressive language gave me hope that Canada can do better. And I think those policies will be looked at fondly. (2/4)

Yeah, we have good stuff coming! It just doesnā€™t feel like enough when you compare it to cities that had cup previously though these things take time. Iā€™m more concerned about GO service, we need to up that, especially since itā€™s likely people will want to stay outside of Toronto for cheaper hotels

We need bold ideas in Canadian politics, itā€™s really sad that both provincially and federally the Liberals are unwilling to do anything inspiring. Ontario has so much potential, but we continue to squander it under Ford. Crombie thinking voters want more of that is misguided. Itā€™s breeding apathy.
