Also, we are proving once again that discussions can and do happen on Bluesky without the need for vulgarity and name calling.

I just know that bad actors will try to divide us so we need to be clear who we support so they have a harder time doing that.

Influence, then. They see what can be accomplished in the US and try to recruit up here to gain more momentum. My issue with the using the term cult is that it's not clear where it begins and ends and who's included. Not everyone who owns a gun is part of a gun cult. It can be misinterpreted.

Like I said, foreign interference. Not sure how we deal with the fringe and stay united as Canadians. But staying united does make us stronger.

But surely not representative of gun owners in Canada. I'm worried we're creating more divides by sharing this garbage. PS I'm not a hunter but my many in my family are and I have a cottage in Quebec amidst the hunters. What you shared is not them and shouldn't ever be lumped with them.

Or maybe these aren't Canadian examples?

The Canada gun culture I know revolves around hunting and rural life (protecting livestock). These posts feel like a foreign interference campaign to move the Overton window.

That is! When I had a cell phone contract with Bell they considered voicemail and sending photos by text message as needing data. They tried to lure me back but couldn't match the 1 G for $20/month.

Me, too

I have 1 Gig for emergency stuff, like sending pics of chickens to my daughter when I unexpectedly end up at a farm. I pay about $20/month for that, less than what I was paying Bell for no data.
comment in response to post
It's insane how much people pay for data so they can play Angry Birds on the bus.

It's gross but appropriate because where we are at the moment is gross.

I was just referring to the US tariff issue. Of course I can't stand either of them! But who says people never disagree on Bluesky?

Watching from Canada. When I see people complain about the Dems it makes me want to scream. It's like you're house is burning down and you're mad at the prior landlord for not fixing the toilet. Focus.

Glad to see he's up and about again.

I guess I better get that followup shingles shot, then

At least there's that. Thanks for responding.

And by "senseless war" I mean "unjustified invasion"

I should have known that one!

I'm worried about access to vaccines in Canada if the US continues down this road of conspiracy theories. Do we even produce vaccines in Canada?
comment in response to post
I hate what's happening in our world, that those of Jewish faith live in fear, that civilians are being trapped in horrifying conditions in Gaza, that strong men like Putin are ready to let their troops die to continue a senseless war, and of course Trump. We need more love, less hatred.

The two things that worked amazingly for me were: -Air Plus insoles for Plantar Fasciitis and -the last two segments of the following. www.youtube.com/watch?v=hv7x...

I believe they are leading, but just not in the direction we want them to go.

I agree.

The "EPA". Don't forget the air quotes.

These are interesting findings, too. www.ekospolitics.com/index.php/20...

Thanks for posting. Nice to see things are headed in a positive direction (for now, at least).

I think readers have always had visceral reactions to views they disagreed with, but in the old days we'd just go take the dog out for a walk, not become a keyboard warrior. We always need to remember broader context and balance. Echo chambers should not be the end goal.

That's extremely dangerous.

Who in the world is rumbling about banning mRNA in Canada? No one with power or sway, I hope.

Thanks for speaking out, Rachel. I'm sure your voice is being heard loud and clear by the government.

HST = having said that

been in place since before Ford took power. I think that's the most damaging loophole there is in setting rental fees in Ontario. You just have to wait for the tenant to leave to jack up the rent. HST, I don't understand why new buildings don't have rent control. Why do they need special treatment?

I keep track of my food expenses; although I've chosen cheaper brands in the last couple years, I've been able to keep overall food expenditure stable over the last 4 years. On rent control, though, I find people think Ford got rid of them, but the ability to charge whatever between tenants has...
