Extra bus lane camera is a no-brainer. What a fail!

20 minute neighbourhoods need traffic filtering. Since 1993, this filter has been quietly effective - attracting no fuss or claim that residents freedom has been restricted in any way. Rat run: tamed. #StreetsNOTroads

Great account to follow - regular as clockwork photos of #Edinburgh!

fact check: since congestion pricing started, subway crime is down 36%.

This is why #Edinburgh needs a decongestion charge too: 🚌 Bus trip times reduced 🚋 Public transport usage up 💰 Good for business 🚑 Traffic injuries halved In addition it’s been reported that: 🚊 subway crime has dropped 🚶‍♂️ pavements are busier 📦 easier to make deliveries #streetsNOTroads

If you see a rocking horse or other incorrectly parked vehicle you can report it to Edinburgh Council. tinyurl.com/Edi2324 This includes on yellow or red lines, in a bus stop, in parking bays, double parking, on footways at a dropped crossing or double parked, on a road along the tram line.

New #BikeBus Alert for #Edinburgh! Later this year another new bike bus will help Edinburgh to have healthier and more active kids\parents; reduce traffic levels, air pollution & brake pad dust! @sustransscot.bsky.social @edinreporter.bsky.social @edinburghcouncil.bsky.social @scottishgreens.org

20 minute neighbourhoods need well maintained streets - even with machines small enough to sweep bike lanes! 🧹

20 minute neighbourhoods need properly protected bike lanes

This will force more traffic past the primary school and along narrow streets not designed for being arterial routes or rat runs. Harrison Road, Ashley Terrace and Weat Bryson should all be filtered or bus gated so only buses, taxis and bikes can pass through. Just like Leith @davidfkey.bsky.social

Under the Leith Connections project, we're making walking, wheeling, cycling easier and safer for everyone whilst providing new community spaces. Councillors today approved making the trial measures permanent. Read the full report and measures here: democracy.edinburgh.gov.uk/ieListDocume...

I’m absolutely delighted the Leith Low Traffic Neighbourhood (LTN) has been made permanent today. This is the right decision for Leith, and will help to lock in the traffic reductions, safer streets and cleaner air that this scheme has already delivered.

This is how you deliver economic growth: Access to jobs Boost housing growth Attract investment Better accessibility Generate new journeys Link public transport Create mode shift It’s what Central Scotland needs.

Welcome. But with the pace of change, the reality is current high school parents are campaigning for road safety improvements of as yet unborn #Edinburgh kids. Anyone with kids above P4 won’t secure meaningful change to whilst their kids are at school, such is the lack of council urgency.

As #Edinburgh considers whether or not to keep one Low Traffic Neighbourhood, here’s the London Fire Commissioner talking about the impact of hundreds in his patch on response times. Impact: none.

Thanks for the mention! We’re also very excited about the Junior Park Run, partnership working and improving communities. Great examples of the difference a community council can make locally.

Our attempt to delve into @edinburghcouncil.bsky.social budget proposals (not the most exciting set of documents😴) reveals: 1. SNP and Green proposals to install more bus lane cameras. 2. some tweaking of bus station departure charges (yes, it's somewhat esoteric) @sw20ed.bsky.social

Infrastructure enables this! 😻

EVALUATION OF FIRST 10 MONTHS OF THE £2 BUS FARE CAP January-October 2023, England assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/media/67a5f5... Key results : Approx. 5% increase in bus pax. Savings vary significantly. Travel costs cut. Main beneficiaries probably: those who'd travel even if no cap; those

Infrastructure allows people to willingly do journeys that they wouldn't have done. Particularly true for families that want to stay fit & avoid busy junctions. Large number of our family cargobike sales are close to shared use path / quiet routes. @cargobikemovement.bsky.social @sw20ed.bsky.social

The biking culture in Paris was super noticeable and made a big impression on me last summer when I visited. I’ve been to Paris many times and it definitely was not so bicycle friendly in the past…

Looking at how other cities have improved their public spaces shows that #Edinburgh’s streets can also become safer, more welcoming and greener. #StreetsNOTroads

So many similar stories about @cargobikemovement.bsky.social here. They offered the first cargobike rides to many who have the gone on to their own or build community hire schemes.

“To see change in an older, denser, more crowded city like Paris shows there no reason this can’t happen in pretty much every city in the world. If it’s happening here, your city can do it too - in just a handful of years” www.youtube.com/watch?v=woFl...

Really sad to see Cargobike Movement go - they helped us setup our Community eCargobike hire scheme. But great to see @thebikestation.bsky.social taking up their mantle!

Spot on!
