Super awkward... but not as awkward as that 6 hour plane ride would have been.

It's a weird return, but not a Bill Lee style bag of balls. Tibbs was a 1st rounder last year. Hicks supposedly way better than his numbers, plus a 23 year old starter and a lottery ticket.

Well, he wasn't wrong...

He was a 1st round draft pick last year, wouldn't be surprising if there was something really interesting about him.

No, he walks a lot.

Hard to believe that Burdi still has options after all these years.

Marcelo Mayer quietly rejoices. Although I think everyone would have preferred the scenario where he got playing time because Story had an amazing season, led the team to the World Series, and opted out at the end of it.

Some middle reliever could get hot and vulture a lot of wins that way. Every once in a while someone goes 11-2 pitching in middle relief on a team with a strong offense and starters who struggle the third time through the order.

Definitely. And we could get really lucky and he runs off an unhittable six weeks - there's a reason he was a 2nd rounder back in the day. Just don't get your heart broken when he gets a fluke injury and goes on the IL for the rest of the year, because it has happened pretty much every year.

He's 32 and the most injury-prone guy on the face of the earth. Would be great if he has a hot streak - he has great stuff between loooong trips to the DL - but don't get your hopes up for a longterm solution. He makes Whitlock look like Lou Gehrig.

I feel like they're almost trolling us now, which is kinda hilarious.

the hbp, bb, and k columns seem off, unless he's really been hitting more than a batter an inning his whole career.

Criswell is still on the 40 man roster, but not on the 26. Burdi needed to be added to the 40 in order to be called up to the 26.

Climbs over the Mendoza line in style.

Ya, if he had volunteered, everyone would be making George Scott and Kevin Youkilis comparisons, and he'd be the toast of the town again. No one involved in this read the room very well, other than the player who told him to stop talking.

Especially since Bregman's contract is structured in a way that if he has a good season, he's likely gone next year and Devers is back at 3b again... And the way they've handled it seems likely to make that maximally awkward.

I couldn't watch them after someone pointed out that they are basically The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich from the POV of the young Adolf Hitler. That is just not a story that appealed to me and I would rather pretend the prequels don't exist.

It wasn't raining at the other end. The house we were renting had a big garage / office where we staged the books. Some of them didn't get unboxed until we were able to buy the (hopefully) permanent house a couple of years later. The cats were pretty traumatized by the whole process.

Nice to have the other team making the 4 errors for a change...

I think the theoretical floor for a Republican in a major race is 27%? That was what Alan Keyes got, running as a much-ridiculed carpetbagger in Blue Illinois.

My point is they see him as a better option than Criswell or Winkowski right now, and that's why he's been starting. Nobody's 8th starter is all that good. Giolito or Fitts are both better and will be back soon so not likely to be an issue for long.
comment in response to post
No, since Winkowski and Criswell both have options. If everyone is healthy he's behind a bunch of other guys and they don't need him. He's out there because they felt he was the best option for the moment. It just hasn't worked out all that well so far.
comment in response to post
Considering he's the team's 8th starter, he's been ok. He's not on the team because he's better than Giolito, Bello, Crawford, or even Fitts. He's here (for now) because he outpitched Criswell and Winkowski.

It is your RIGHT to ask for proof of contract and proof of loan. The onus of proof is on them, not you, because they took on the responsibility of the servicer when they purchased your loan. Learn more about your rights here: consumer.ftc.gov/articles/deb...
