Whatever happens with German elections today, I thank Olaf for all he has done to help me to stay in this war for this long. His escalation management delays & drip feeding made the difference.

The latest on Ukraine

Also if you feel strongly about Eric Adams, you should call your city councilmember to express that and ask for their position. You’d be surprised. Hochul’s stance is highly disappointing but it doesn’t come from nowhere. Press all your electeds. City elections are in 5 months. Ask candidates too.

It may not be cool or hip in some circles, but we legitimately do need a massive amount of people to run for office. Flood the school boards, councils, county seats, state legislatures, Congress, etc. Big changes at the top happen when the ground shifts at the bottom. And that can start now.

Jeez. US could cut Ukraine's access to Starlink internet services over minerals, say sources. Trump’s government are behaving like mobsters www.reuters.com/business/us-...

europe’s best shot at leverage with trump (& helping save ukraine): seize the $300 billion in frozen russian assets and transfer them 1) to rebuild ukraine 2) to buy american arms to defend ukraine. there’s nothing more america first than using russian money to pay for american defense systems.

Ukraine Fact Sheet - February 21, 2025: isw.pub/UkraineFacts...

Can we just seize the Russian assets already and give them to Ukraine? Good lord just do it

US logistics would be difficult to replicate and replace, but Europe needs to step-it-up when it comes to defending Europe. It can and it should. www.reuters.com/world/europe...

Happy Tax Season! This is your daily reminder that Elon Musk’s Tesla paid $0 in federal income taxes despite raking in $2.3 billion.

Backdoors created in software make all of us less safe. There is no such thing as a “backdoor for only good guys.” If a security exploit is created our adversaries and other bad actors will also be able to take advantage. Go Apple, boo UK.

JPMORGAN: “.. the term ‘Department of Government Efficiency’ has appeared in more than 20 New York Times articles in the last two days alone. This attention level gives the impression that spending cuts, either realized or imminent, are dramatic. The reality so far is more mundane.”

Medicaid is not for sale. NASA is not for sale. The Post Office is not for sale. America is not for sale. We have an obligation to resist kings. We outnumber them. And they can be overwhelmed.

@jenpsaki.msnbc.com: "Inspectors general are a headache for everyone. You know why? Because they're investigating every agency and they find stuff! Including waste and fraud and abuse! They wouldn't be firing them if they cared about waste, fraud, and abuse."

Numbers are hard. theintercept.com/2025/02/20/d...

Math is hard. Master it with this one neat trick (see article).

America not feeling hardcore on Space Karen

Steve Rattner on plans to cut spending, especially Medicaid

It is disgusting to see an American president turn against one of our friends and openly side with a thug like Vladimir Putin. And with Trump preparing to give in to Putin now, America will pay the price later.

I welcome the agreement on our 16th sanctions package. With tighter measures on circumvention, new import and export bans, and sanctions on Putin’s shadow fleet, we are closing backdoors for Russia’s war machine to operate. The Kremlin won’t break our resolve.

Now this is content.

Whoops! Probably better to check what people’s jobs are before firing them, but what do I know. www.nbcnews.com/politics/dog...

This is why you fight these cowards. The moment you stand up to them, they crumble. Homan has nothing. The Fourth Amendment is clear and I am well within my duties to educate people of their rights. He can threaten me with jail and call names all he wants. He’s got nothing else.

Odd this keeps occurring.

#Flu vaccinations dramatically reduce hospitalizations, transmission, and deaths from influenza. What are you waiting for? #FluEndsWithU www.forbes.com/sites/kather...

The average person with the flu gives it to around 1.4 people. The average person with measles gives it to between 12 and 18 people.

Measles high infection rate is the reason we have not yet been able to eradicate it. That rate means you need a very high vaccination rate to prevent outbreaks. It is possible, but not with current levels of institutional distrust.

Estimates I’ve encountered have been that russian economy can sustain for 1-1.5 more years at current expenditures of ~40% federal budget being spent on war. Material stocks from Soviet Era are running low and losing troops above replacement level ~2:1. www.reuters.com/markets/euro...

The flying public needs answers. How many FAA personnel were just fired? What positions? And why?

Democrats, Republicans, and everyone in between agree: costs are too damn high.  Trump's taken his eye off the ball. He's focused on everything but affordability.  Every day I'm fighting to bring down costs for you and your family.

What could possibly go wrong with an indiscriminate government firing spree? www.nbcnews.com/politics/nat...

Moves by the White House to cut spending and restrict communications have hobbled public health officials’ response to bird flu, with the new administration yet to outline a clear strategy on how it plans to stem the spread of the virus.

The rate of confirmed #influenza hospitalisations in the United States is the highest in at least 15 seasons (as far as Report data extends). Latest data from US CDC to end of Week 6 (08-FEB-2025). That's a week ago of course.
