I know there were a flurry of news articles a few years ago about those vaccinated in the 70s & 80s for measles needing an updated shot, as they were finding immunity waning after about 20 years with those generations of vaccines. My husband & I got our updated MMR. I am so glad we did.

Titer tests for MMR are $250-$300 and aren't generally covered by insurance. I occasionally have to pay for them for in-hospital credentialing for reps at work, but the MMR shot is pretty effective, and typically covered by insurance. But yes, if you don't mind the $ - titers are an option.

There was definitely something going on then. Born in 1976. My parents lost my vaccine records and when I became a US citizen in 2010 I had to get titers due to no records. Apparently I had no immunity to Rubella and had to get that shot (not the MMR, just the R). Very interesting.

IIRC, you can check your titres or just go ahead & get an MMR (& they kind of recommended the latter).

It is probably closer to 200-300, or now more exponentially, but many children or people will have milder symptoms of fever, cough, rash (which may not be fully developed or understood) and body aches. But after 7-10 days they feel fine, not knowing how many more they have exposed to this disease.
