Alt text?

For folks that like to call other people "snowflakes", these are literally the most baby shit soft people on earth. You were "threatened", by a former FBI director, with seashells? For real? Did you stop and say those words out loud to just hear how they sounded strung all together?

Can he hurry up and find it please?

Oh wonderful, thank you!

Yeah, I don’t think tiny indie publishers are likely to be in a place to do much unless they can get in with big companies - and then again, if your publisher is USian and you aren’t, how does that work? As for academic stuff, goodness knows. At least I’ve pumped a bit of queer theory in, I guess.

Is there any chance you’d consider using ALT text for your pictures? It would be nice if they were accessible.

No, it doesn’t, Canada I think may have its own thing going on. Brits were advised to contact…I can’t remember who offhand but the advice THEY gave was to write a sternly worded letter, or some such nonsense.

Yup, they got novels, stories and an academic article from me, too. And not being in the US, I can’t join the class action law suit, apparently all the Brits can do is write a cross letter ffs.

Thankfully the only real relationship kid has had was with a girl a month younger than he was. I can deal with that age gap! But yeah, my relationship has left me in a very difficult position for criticising but fortunately kid has always had more sense than I have so it doesn’t matter!

My parents were remarkably tolerant, all things considered. They wouldn’t let my sister’s older boyfriend sleep in her room with her when she was 16 and he was 23, but they didn’t refuse him the house. I didn’t ask mine how old he was for some time because I knew I didn’t want to know the answer!

Seriously. I always find that weird. It’s like, as long as they look young, it’s fine? But if they look, say, fifty, it wouldn’t be, even if they were exactly the same mental age etc? It’s like when people try and ship the Doctor in Doctor Who with humans. Just don’t. S/he’s too old.

My son is hugely disapproving of age gap rships, fortunately, as I don’t have a leg to stand on. “I wouldn’t let MY 18 year old daughter date someone that much older than she was,” he told me about my rship with his dad (we’re still happily together and kid loves us, but we’re 15.5 years apart).

I have loved this commentary so much. I’ve never watched the show, but am addicted to the fanfic (don’t ask, it’s a Thing) and I have weird feelings about mixed age relationships because what was okay for me and my sisters kinda would feel weird if it were my son, y’know?

Oh, the spreadsheet is logging what I read after I read it. I’ve never done it before, but I thought I’d give it a go, though if I read short fics I definitely wouldn’t bother because I’d spend more time updating it than reading! Currently at 12.7 million words this year…
comment in response to post
Very true indeed! Not the first I’ve read this year (which I know because I’m using the spreadsheet I got from someone on here to keep track of what I’m reading!)

Best. Bloody. Scene. (Too clearly love coded? But queer platonic relationships are valid too, even though it’s also equally valid to see that one otherwise…)

Aaaaaargh. Why did they delete that? They deleted some of the best bits, damn it.

Like, I’m saying this as a Brit, so if I think there are options outside of those two, there are surely various others that I don’t know about (that aren’t the very right wing stooges that have been given pride of place in the White House).
comment in response to post
There’s still the Guardian, which while very transphobic in the UK seems to be less so in the US. I’d go for that one instead. It’s not like the only two options are WaPo or NYT.

You’re a star, thank you.

Don’t go to the NY Times, it’s incredibly biased Trumpwards.

Tbh, the more fics I read anc found out about the original, the less I wanted to watch it! (Also I find watching tv hard because of my illnesses so there’s also that, but mainly, the more fic I read, the more determined I became NOT to watch TW ever! But I love the fic.)
comment in response to post
I managed to fall into the fandom without ever watching it, lol. I had an Omegaverse period, but putting Alpha/Beta/Omega Dynamics in AO3 got me a lot of TW fic (for other reasons, but I didn’t realise) so I started reading it & got obsessed… The more I read, the more I didn’t want to watch the tv!

Tbh, i doubt I’ll get any bidders, but at least I can feel I made the effort.

Yes, on 25th.

Damn it, #CurrentlyReading The above #Merlin fic too, rather than reasing it, whatever that may be.
