we have failed as a society to train people to communicate, the way we teach students to write (when we bother to) is the most bland, anodyne crap, all while making them go to college for reasons that even we can't explain beyond "you need it to get a job." Kids don't get why they're going.

This is of course backwards. In truth: A junior who DOESN'T use ChatGPT can actually grow as an engineer. As someone said this week, weights in the gym don't _need_ to be moved. If you use a forklift to move them, you're avoiding the point, which is of course, that you have to lift them YOURSELF.
