Re Zohran’s grocery store plans- the government already runs discount grocery stores ALL OVER THE WORLD. They are called commissaries and they are on every US military base. No one has ever had a problem with their existence

always have to remember the right will get hysterical over every issue of the day it does not matter about validity or truth it is all about feeding their constant outrage machine

finally finished putting together a summer TBR, thank you for the suggestions bc i was able to find some of them at half price books/the library!

Zohran: Imagine living in a city where you can afford your rent, your groceries and even a meal at a restaurant now and then without much stress Eric Adams: Imagine a platypus so powerful that it could destroy the city. We need more cops

As someone who mostly reads horror, I'll never understand the vitriol towards "cozy" books. People say they are escapist, unserious, allowing readers to avoid big issues. And I'm like, girl, WHEN did your dark romance book fix society? Did I BLINK and miss your detective thriller solving crime?

We all need a place where we feel safe… Goodnight everybody. Sweet dreams.

A 33-year-old Democratic Socialist will become the next mayor of NYC and the worst, most corrupt people in the USA are losing their minds. God loves to see it.

An addled president is shredding the Constitution to usher in white nationalism and fascism while destroying the economy and our health care, so if you’re going to write an alarmist op-ed because a mayoral candidate might open five (5) city-run grocery stores, you can kindly get bent.

This is Gus. He was caught sitting at the kitchen table while home alone. His motives remain unknown. 14/10 (TT: milolovesromeo)

For those upset about “socialism” coming to NYC, can I introduce you to… …the NYPD, FDNY, sanitation department, libraries, schools, beaches, bridges, roads, parks, sewer and transit systems? When you complain about “socialism” coming to NYC, you’re admitting you don’t know what it is.

Always loved the people who are like, "But my ancestors came here the legal way!" and by that they mean they arrived via ratship to an island, a man asked them their name, they were like, "Uh, Jeff... Smith?" another guy said "sure?" and then they became permanent residents of the United States.

Since Mamdani won last night, NYC has FALLEN according to my friends there. It is utter chaos. They couldn't get in to their top 3 brunch places+their 4th choice only had spots at *noon* Sunday. The corner bagel place was out of everything. Bus was 5 minutes late and the bodega cat hissed at them.

Listen, I met with a tiny group from Joplin over zoom last December. They didn’t know what to do after the election, but they knew they had to do something. They invited me down to speak in Joplin a few weeks ago. That tiny group ended up organizing 350 people for the event. Never give up.

Whenever I see Dems claim they are out of power, there’s nothing they can do, I think of Brad Lander and how he escorted people to court while being comptroller and running for mayor. Do something or get the f out of the way so there can be more Brad Landers.

A Muslim son of immigrants might become mayor of NYC in part because he cross endorsed and supported a Jewish candidate and Black candidate, and vice versa. It's a beautiful American story for the rest of us. A nightmare for all the right people ;) It's so New York.

A win! Thank you to everyone who spoke out! After facing bipartisan resistance, the Senate Parliamentarian, ruled that Sen. Mike Lee’s proposal to sell off millions of acres of federal land cannot be included under reconciliation rules.

Polls have closed. Team, we have left nothing on the table. Thank you for all your work and support. Truly, thank you.

This is the list of Rape Culture apologists. It includes Cuomo stans and literally people sent to attack me and other survivors for years. I’ve tried to include as many high profile abusers as I can. It is bipartisan on bad people supporting abusers. Block block block. bsky.app/profile/did:...

It’s so hot I just saw a rotisserie chicken fly by window.

hope google AI starts using this as the first search result lol

They’re planning on building a detention center for migrants in the middle of the fetid swamps of Florida. If you think this is something new, the first internment camp they sent me and my family to in 1942 was a barbed wire prison called Rohwer. It was located in the swamps of Arkansas.

🚨BREAKING: Federal judge concludes that using copyrighted works to train generative A.I. is transformative and ultimately a fair use. (Nevertheless, Anthropic can’t beat the lawsuit because it pirated books for another purpose too.) First of kind ruling. www.documentcloud.org/documents/25...

Zohran’s results so far just show how tired Americans are of the status quo, how we need creative, people-first campaigning and governance, and why positive, progressive politics are the future. Hate to get ahead of myself before results are called but I’m so freakin happy right now.

If you're a center-left voter who pinned all your hopes on Cuomo, I don't wanna hear the whining. Adrienne Adams was right there. She came from a working class family, union parents, worked her way up, elected Speaker of the Council. And yet, you chose the serial sexual assailant. Stop whining.

What matters is that Cuomo and all the people who endorsed him are still going to claim they're the rightful heirs to the Democratic Party, how dare young people challenge them, all of that. The difference is they're now just unaffiliated lunatics, banging on the windows. They're not the party.

If you are in line to not rank Andrew Cuomo, stay in line.

Mere hours to go until we learn whether New York City mayoral politics remains the weird unique freak show everyone agreed it to be until roughly a month ago or it’s actually an extremely important bellwether for national politics after all!

what’s funny is that if pro-cuomo centrist democrats were less myopic they might see that mamdani was running the kind of campaign that could help rebuild the party brand — accessible with an outsider persona and a focus on “kitchen table” issues.

I’ll have more on this later, but over this weekend my colleagues and I brought 50 Comanche teens to Colorado to see some of their homelands for the very first time. Thank you to the Nation, the parents, and the kids for this gift of your presence. I cried harder today than I have in years.

That's actually the theme for one of our campaign embroidery kits!

Our oldest daughter just drove by an anti-Trump protest in Kansas with three women holding signs. She was so excited to see them that she immediately sent me text. This is just to say, your tiny protests make a difference. We see you. We are proud of you.

Like so many elections around the country, today is about organized money vs. organized people. I believe people will win.

PALLONE: With regard to vaccines, are you just afraid to receive public comments on proposals? There's been no public process RFK JR: We have a public process for regulating vaccines. It's called the ACIP committee. PALLONE: You fired the committee!

UPDATE: Hero at the Torrance car wash, Bertha Alicia Guzmán, is speaking out after stepping in like a boss during an “immigration raid”. She helped stop a worker from being taken by “ICE” agents suspected of being imposters.

Glad I kept this one. Learned a lot from it

VEASEY: You've credited the 12 steps in your recovery. What's step 4? RFK JR: Making a fearless inventory VEASEY: Of ourselves. Do you remember step 12? RFK JR: We try to help other addicts VEASEY: Does cutting off treatment from people still suffering align with step 4 or step 12?

RUIZ: Did you read the report & fact-check its sources prior to publication? RFK JR: I did not fact check RUIZ: It included citations to sources that don't exist. How does that happen? RFK JR: All of the foundational assertions are accurate RUIZ: They did not exist. How can they be accurate?

It’s wild that in the video DHS posted in an effort to make the beating of an innocent landscaper (with 3 marine sons) seem justified there’s a masked ice goon pointing a gun at a random car passing by and they don’t seem to think it matters at all

They’re assaulting the mothers and fathers of US soldiers. Roving gangs of masked men grab human beings off the street. They send them without due process to prisons in countries they’re not even from where they are then sold into slavery. Make it stop!!!

Yikes.

They were supposed to be deporting “gang members” and “criminals.” So far, they have kidnapped people working their day jobs and folks lawfully showing up for their immigration court appearances… It was always a lie.
